MAAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RICKY SOLIVER, IONA
Senior, Guard, 6-3, 175, New York, N.Y./All Hallows
Soliver, a senior guard, was named MVP of the 2005 American Family Cyclone Challenge after leading the Gaels to a perfect 3-0 recording, including a win over No. 23 Iowa State. He averaged 21.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 5.3 steals over the three-day event. The senior guard had his second collegiate 30-point effort vs. Portland State while also setting a new school record with 10 steals in the win. Soliver shot 54.8 percent from the field and 66.7 percent (8-for-12) from behind the arc in Iona’s three wins.

MAAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

LAMAR JOHNSON, RIDER
Freshman, Guard, 6-3, 170, Scranton, Pa./Scranton
Johnson, a freshman guard, netted a game-high 19 points at Drexel on November 21. He also recorded four rebounds and two steals in 29 minutes of work against the Dragons. On the night, Johnson shot 60 percent from the field (6-10), 42.9 percent from three-point range (3-7) and 100 percent from the charity stripe (4-4).

Great for Ricky, the best all-around player on Iona's roster. Burtt's scoring will not carry the Gaels as much as Ricky's all-around play.
