was the nuggets getting eduardo najera from the warriors along with luis flores and a future #1 for nicoloz tskitishvilli and rodney white. in the 18 games najera has played with denver they are 16-2. he's giving them 8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg (including 2.2 offensive rebounds/gm) on a .538 fg%. he's a tough guy who defends well and eats glass. he's one of the best role players in the NBA and a huge reason the nuggets will fly into the playoffs and nobody wants to see them in the first round.

This was definitely one of those trades that kind of went unnoticed. I haven't really followed the players much since to see how they've done since, but I must say, in the nuggets game that was on ESPN the other night, Najera was playing very well. There is no question he's going to help them finish out the season and into the playoffs.

the point of this thread is things fliying under the radar. George Karl has been loved and praised enough, whereas Najera hasnt gotten a peep.

GS had no use for Najera but the future #1 is kind of disturbing... a gamble on Skita, I guess.

Obviously Eduardo Najera isn't the main reason Denver is playing so well, but this was still a great trade for the Nuggets. Suddenly, Najera doesn't look overpaid anymore. Hustle players like Najera are wasted on bad teams, but a lot of times when they get traded to a good team they start playing well again. You can get guys like this for nothing in trades, and Denver was smart enough to take advantage of that.

Exactly. Hustle players and defenders like Najera, Cardinal, Haslem, Bowen, etc. are not gonna be useful on bad teams because they just don't have the offensive talent to carry a team. However, on teams with stars and/or scorers around them, they are what push good teams into great teams.
