My god...Oden is a beast...I've seen no offense yet but 4 blocks in 6 minutes?

I think NY will be top 5 bad in 2007 also..but oden's a really smart kid, he might not leave ohio state after one year

Kirk Hinrich
Luol Deng
Tyrus Thomas
Greg Oden

that team would win atleast 2 rings in the future

I read an article on Oden in ESPN magazine that his financial situation may force him to go to the NBA. His parents are separated and he shares a bedroom with his brother. he slept on a small bed until someone donated a bigger one. It takes a fortune to feed the guy and he'd complain that he was hungry all the time. He's opposed to the 19 year age restriction and I bet he would have gone straight. I know Oden is a smart guy but if he does graduate I bet he does it like how Vince and Antawn did.

There's Jon Scheyer.

I like Thaddeus Young's game

I haven't caught the actual game yet (hope to catch a TV replay), but that Chase kid in the dunk contest was amazing. I've only seen one more white guy with the vert and hang time that he had on his first two dunks, and that was on a beach volleyball player (coincidentally Chase is also a volleyball player).

I watched the first half of the game and TiVo'd the rest. I'll finish it tonight.

My initial impressions were:

(a) Oden's defensive instincts and timing are scary. Frankly, I've never seen anything like it outside of The Dream. And that is when he was an NBA veteran, not a high school kid.

(b) Forgot his name, but the 7-footer going to Washington has major skills. I like him a lot.

(c) Forgot his name (see the trend), but the 7-footer going to Georgetown is a heck on an athlete as well. And he's got a great frame to continue to put on muscle. He and Hibbert are going to be tough to deal with next season.

(d) Durant has skills and his wingspan doesn't even look human its so wide, but he's the skinniest kid I've ever seen. And, frankly, I'm not sure his frame is conducive to putting on a lot of muscle. His future is at small forward. Very talented though.

Just an impressive group of players. Might be the best I recall from a McDonald's game.

Agreed, I didn't get to see all of it due to an exam, but from what I saw, I was impressed.
Oden really is a beast out there, you just take a glance at the court and he doesn't look like he fits in with the rest of them.

I agree with your comments on Durant as well, he was rail thin as far as I could tell. Those arms are ridiculous though, it's freakish too look at.
Is that the guy people were talking about having an 8' wingspan?

I hope to catch the rest of the game on a replay, I'd also like to see the dunk contest, I totally missed that.
I always liked watching those skills competitions, my favorite's still James White vs. David Lee from a few years back, they really put on a show.

Was there anything worthwhile in this year's?

Spencer Hawes. He seems very likely to be one and done as well.

Vernon Macklin, he's 6'10, not seven feet. He's very talented though. He won't even play that much. Jeff Green and Hibbert will play the majority of the minutes upfront.

Thats his name. Amid all the frenzy about this class, I'd never even heard his name (admittedly, I don't follow it all that closely). I thought he was among the top 3 or 4 prospects in the game from what I saw. Very impressive.

I watched the 1st half, but then fell asleep and missed the entire 2nd half (yes, I fell asleep before 10:00...somewhere, TomBoerwinkle#1 is nodding his head and saying "me, too!").

- Oden was obviously impressive on the defensive end. The guy's length is just unreal. How is he only 18? I swear he has more wrinkles on his face than most 45 year olds (oddly enough, Lebron also had a lot of wrinkles and looked much older...were these guys held back like 15 years just so they could dominate against kids in their grade? I suppose a 20 year old in 5th grade would be pretty damn good).

- Hawes showed some nice, quick moves around the basket. I think he's the one going to Washington.

- The token athletic white guy (TAWG, if that's your sort of thing) this year was apparently Chase Budinger. Congratulations to him. If only he were going to Duke, he'd be touted as a top five pick already.

- I like Thaddeus Young. He gets off the ground insanely quick. G-Tech is gonna be back next year with that recruiting class.

- The Lopez twins: what's that about? Not only are they 7-foot twins, but they were both given girls' names (Brook and Robin), neither of which are names you'd usually imagine going along with the last name of Lopez. They're like the walking contradiction twins. Maybe they can parlay that into a nice living someday.

- Nice to see JayWill's rehab paying dividends. Didn't he and his agent predict he'd be back playing by now? What happened with that? Instead, he's stuck apparently practicing his comedy stylings on Tim McCormick. Maybe he can parlay that into a nice living someday.

- In last year's McDonald's game, Greg Paulus ran over and knocked out a cheerleader when he was going for a loose ball. This year, that didn't happen. Nice.
