35-22 after 1

Great 1st quarter for the Heat. In full on attack mode. Hassan was dominant. 16 points 7 rebounds and 2 blocks in his 1st quarter stint.

Justise looked great. Hit a 3, had a big dunk and a couple of nice assist to Hassan. And Dion Waiters was looking like Wade with the way he was driving and giving Hassan easy baskets on lobs and hand offs.

Heat beat the Magic 107-77

Another game, another 100+ point effort, another huge points in the paint night and another 10 made 3 pointer game. Gonna be interesting to see who makes the final rotation because a lot of guys are playing well.

Tonight it was all without Hassan, who was back in Charlotte after his great-grandma passed away. Babbit and Udrih also didnt play.

Willie Reed started and had 16-11-2 blocks. 17 and 5 for Goran. 15-3-2 for Waiters and another very good night off the bench for TJ with 15 points on 6/9 shooting and 4 assists. He's definitely much more comfortable in that role. Although he isnt a pure PG, playing next to Dion or Jrich when he comes back with help out a lot. Ellington went 4/6 from 3.

James Johnson is much bigger and more athletic than I thought. He didnt much because of a foot strain, but he had 6 points, 3 rebounds and 3 blocks in the 9 minute stretch that he did play.

^ Winslow also was out with a tight back.

Reed and Johnson are battling for the backup 5 man spot at this point. JJ is pretty versatile!

TJ looked great, as did Goran and Waiters.

Ellington will lose his spot in the rotation when JRich returns, and it'll be interesting to see how JRich's return affects JJ and Derrick Williams also. Winslow likely to play more 4 man with Dragic/Waiters/Richardson or Dragic/TJ/Richardson lineups.

I think Williams starts at the 4, but wouldnt be surprised if there are games where he plays less than a JJ or Babbit, depending on the situation.

Agree about Ellington losing his spot to JRich when he comes back.

McBob will be an option at the backup 5 as well. More shooters around him could bring out the best in his game...but who the hell knows with this dude. Could injure a hair follicle and miss half the season anyway.

All this talk about Weber or Udrih, yet here comes Rodney McGruder out of nowhere to push the two of them. Having another nice night tonight with many regulars resting.

McGruder may have played himself into that roster spot, fit be damned.

Maybe we decide rolling with Dragic, Waiters, TJ or JRich at the point if someone gets injured works OK?

Yeah, a 3rd PG isnt really a necessity since TJ, JRich and Dion can all handle the ball.

But they can also play the 2 next to Dragic and would all be in front of McGruder in the rotation. And that's not including Wayne Ellington either. So unfortunately he might not make it due to the logjam we already have at the SG spot.

Props to McGruder. Came on strong to end the preseason and played his way onto the Heat roster.

As for Weber, he just didnt show enough on offense. Needs to work on his shot. Hopefully the Heat can find a way to keep him in their system, in their D-league team.

Final Heat Roster:

PG: Dragic/TJ
SG; Waiters/JRich/Ellington/McGruder
SF: Winslow/JJ
PF: DWill/Babbit/McBob (Bosh)
C: Whiteside/Reed/UD
