There is no way they compete for a title. Those trades they made were a horrible decision in my opinion. It didn't improve the team. I think they should have kept the guy who went to cleveland(forget his name at the moment) and probably should have kept eddie jones. I think keeping a team together only helps, rather then tearing it apart to make a title run. Then signing walker was the icing on the no title cake. I can't wait for this team to get bounced in the 2nd round. I doubt they make it to the ecf. no way they make it to the finals unless hell freezes over.

They will get the ecf most likely and get bounced by the pistons.Same for the spurs i think.Suns pistons in the finals the suns are just too fast.

the suns got to prove they can play defense before you can claim they'll beat the spurs.

Here's a whacky question. Is this years Heat team as much of a joke as the Blazers squad of 2000-2001? Is there even a comparison? The 99-00 Blazer team was minutes from going to the Finals. The Heat didn't come anywhere close last year.

um, they went to game 7 of the ECF's, how's that any different than game 7 of the WCF's?

What are you talking about, the heat made it to game 7 of the ecf. If dwayne wade hadn't been hurt, I think they may have been to the finals instead of detroit. But yes, I see a connection with this team and portland of 2000-2001. Both are trying to win a title by buying it instead of earning it. U can't do that in the nba. Just look at detroit,san antonio,lakers, houston, chicago and so on. give a team time and they will play well and win. But when you have a awsome season like miami did, then trade away more then half the team, you won't win anything except a plane ticket home to watch the finals.

yeah, I really can't stand watching Miami. Too many egos, too many ate up stars, & too much exposure on national TV. To be honest, I really dislike watching majority, if not ALL, east coast teams. Cleveland is another team I really can't stand watching, yet they are on national TV (it seems) at least twice a week. They are a pretender team, but then the eastern conference is so pathetic, that they might be considered a contender over there.

pretty much what i was going to say - slightly ironic seeing our current position.
they have the most dominating C in recent memory in Shaq and one of the best young stars in Wade - yet they are boring and we ooooh and aaaah when we break 70pts or telfair gets over 10 pts.

miami isnt a joke - people saying we'd make the playoffs this year is a joke.

hahha great comparison of teams.

the blazers that made thw wcf were old and washued up like miami is now.
pippen, schrmepf vs payton and zo. but zo aint' washed up.

they both have solid starting 5s, but miami's bench is by far weakter than portlands.

i udnno yo, i maybe it's the alchol talking right now, but i think the blazers of that year would destroy the miami team of today. without even flinching

I don't think Miami is a joke. I think Detroit is very good at both ends of the court and has one of the top 2 defenses if not the #1 defense in the league, and they can pretty much control any game they put their mind to.

I do agree with you that their acquisitions were poor. No way in hell I would have added Antoine Walker to the team. Its like the Dennis Scott rerun in Miami. In some important game he will jack up too many 3's and miss them instead of getting Shaq the ball. Eddie Jones was a defensive stopper, but I have noticed this is the 2nd team he has been traded from with Shaq on it. You have to wonder if Shaq just doesn't like the guy. Miami should have added a piece or so, but they should have just kept what they had and let it Gel.

No they needed a 3 point shooter cuz Wade isn't one. But not like Walker shoots any better. And they let Damon Jones go for a broke down Payton. Posey used to be a 3 point threat and a defensive minded kind of guy, but lately he seems like crap.

last time I checked, Portland didn't trade half the team to try and "win" a title like miami is trying to do. Miami got rid of everybody that made them good last season and brought in a bunch of guys who didn't improve the team one bit but in fact made it a weaker team. I mean they bring in jayson williams. Isn't that the same guy who got ran out of sacto? if you want to win a title, you have to let guys play together. This is a fact. I can not think of a single nba team that has been thrown together and won the title. It isn't like the nfl. look at teams who have tried this, Portland in 00-01, were number 1 in the wc then slid to seven only to get bounced by the lakers, dallas a few years ago who had a payroll of over 100 million and didn't make it to the finals, then this year it is new york and miami. new york is the worse team in the nba, with a payroll up there with the yankees. I know you have beer googles on for the heat, but you will see come june when miami is a loser again and in fact never even made it to the finals.
