Item: After losing five of six and on the verge of giving up the Atlantic Division lead to the Philadelphia 76ers, the New Jersey Nets have won five in a row and the Sixers have headed south in a hurry.

What this really means: Realistically, the Nets entered the season as the safest bet to win their division and, barring the team being decimated by injuries, it would be hard to fathom anything else at this point. Friday night, they got 26 points out of young 7-footer Nenad Krstic, then he bounced back with 18 points and 13 rebounds in a surprising upset win on Sunday over Dallas. No doubt, Krstic remains the X-factor in helping this team become dangerous in the postseason. He's got great hands, touch and good quickness, but it's been difficult for him to establish his game consistently with so much of the offensive focus toward Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson.

That's not to say the offense shouldn't go from Jason Kidd through Carter and Jefferson — it's one of the best triumvirates in the game today — but for them to get to the next level, Krstic must raise his game to another level. There aren't many players anywhere with his size and touch and it's up to the veterans around him to show the confidence that he's a vital part of this attack rather than just being a fourth option. Otherwise, they're prime candidates to get upset in the first round.

Krstic has definently been a key to our success all year long. When he plays well so does the entire team. However, he still learning the game of basketball so the vital part of our success still remain in our big 3 Kidd, Carter and RJ. We need all 3 to play well for us to contend in the playoffs.
