Hawks coach Mike Woodson and second-year forward Josh Smith have been fined by the NBA for their comments about the game officials following Monday night's loss in Milwaukee. Woodson was fined $20,000 and Smith $15,000.
Josh Smith: "I don't care what the numbers say, I'm telling you we're getting screwed. We play hard and I think we deserve the same calls anybody else gets. We play aggressive on both ends of the floor. We don't get that respect on the defensive end because every time we touch somebody it's a foul. Then we go out there on the offensive end and get hacked and it's not a foul. Anybody can see that something is not right."

Mike Woodson: "Something's got to be done about this. I'm not asking for preferential treatment. All I'm asking is that my guys are afforded the same calls the other team is getting. That's all I've ever asked for."

They're both right; Atlanta does get screwed on calls, and everybody knows it. Heck, I think other teams plan on it.

At the same time, voicing that view publicly will only get you fined. No other way for it to play out. I don't know what the solution is or how the Hawks can change the situation, but this wasn't it.

yeah, thats the only way to hurt the NBA, but do you think they are really gonna do something about? I think not. They just keep making new rules, and this basketball game is not going to be basketball anymore, just a whistle call on every posession.
