The Bulls are supposed to be talking with the Utah Jazz about trading Mirotic. Mirotic is supposed to be interested in going to Utah and would wave his "no trade" clause.

I have not seen much in terms of details of any trade, but suspect it might start with Alec Burks. Salary wise, Burks is makes 10.8 mill this year and a bit over 11 mill next year. Mirotic makes about 12.5 this year. Burks is playing better this year and would give the Bulls some help off the bench once LaVine comes back.

However, I think Mirotic is a better player and would hope that the Bulls could get more than just Burks.

It is looking like Derrick Flavors may be the key piece coming back to the Bulls in a trade for Mirotic.

The news today was that there was almost a deal with the Pelicans. Mirotic would have been sent to the Pelicans in exchange for bring back Omer Asik along with a Pelicans 1rst round draft pick.

News reports suggest the deal hit a snag and it is unknown if it will ever be completed. However, the context of the deal does provide some evidence on what the value of Mirotic seems to be.

For the record, bring back Asik is not what I was hoping to see!!!

Asik would obviously be cut in the offseason due to his contract be only partially guaranteed next year.

The deal went through today. The Bulls get Asik, Allen and Nelson, plus the Pelicans 1rst rd pick. In addition to Mirotic, the Bulls give up a 2nd rd pick.

The Bulls are on the hook for this year and next year of Asik's salary, but must pay at least 3 mill of his salary the year after that.

The Bulls are expected to release Pondexter (current Bull) and perhaps Allen, but keep Nelson.

Nelson aside, the real value is the Pelicans 1rst round pick. Hopefully the Bulls will will find a valuable player with both this pick and their own (assuming they do not move one or both of their picks in other trades). NBADRAFT.net currently has the Bulls taking Collin Sexton - point gaurd and Bruno Fernando PF/C.
