The 23-24 season begins in earnest now. what coaches and assistants are leaving/arriving, what players are asking out of a commitment as a result? What players with eligibility remaining are going to turn pro? Who is entering the transfer portal, and where are players who have entered it going? Will be an interesting off season.

Yep. I'm optimistic with the new guy, but I still think that ultimately the NCAA is limited to what they can or will do. The fact that the transfer portal was also addressed is promising.
I’m not naive enough to think everything will go back to the way it was before all of this chaos and greasy “collective” bullshit, but establishing some firm, universal regulations for NIL and the portal would make it easier for non-P5s to plan and maneuver going forward.

Oh for sure. And I'm not even sure I want it to go back to the way it was. There are ways to make it better going forward. I'm also not naive enough to think it will get better.

I'm not sure how Providence will handle this. You'd imagine Matt Langel would be a better fit than Kim English, but he might be in the running for the Notre Dame job. People think English is an up and comer, but not necessarily sure him bouncing from Mason after two years makes me think he wouldn't do the same to me in the near future.

I get PC isn't the best job around, but you'd think they'd be able to get a coach that's not as green. Everyone wants the newest and hottest name on the market, but I'd ideally want a coach that would be at my school longer term. Maybe that's not a thing anymore, but by hiring a coach that's only 35, you're guaranteeing that.

Looks like Micah Shrewsberry could be staying at Penn State, but that's far from certain. Temple, Providence and ND all looking for coaches and seemingly all seem to have similar candidates in mind.

Providence would be wise to hire someone who can do more with less. I am not sure English is that guy.
He isn’t, but maybe they will scour the northeast to… Urrrrr… go for a particularly stumpy, boisterous fellow who wears his suit coats a size too small? ;)

To be serious, though, I bet PC looks hard at Greasy Grasso at Bryant. James Jones from Yale would also seem like a good target.

How about Slick Rick going to the Johnnies, by the way? Talk about selling one’s soul…

Rick Barnes took a year at Mason and went to Providence. Seems like English could jump ship quickly too right? Mason has no AD right now and not sure English is gonna light the world on fire but right now he is a young coach that can recruit or at least he has people feeling that way about him.

Too soon, but otherwise I do think Urgo could do well at a place like Providence. Does not strike me as the jumper type though. Not that he'll never leave, but not yet.

Grasso would get destroyed in the Big East. I think Providence can do a ton better. I don't have a good read on Jones, so can't really say there.

Pitino to St. John's is a perfect fit.

If I'm English, I'd jump at that opportunity. I just don't see Providence going there unless other options don't pan out.

I know it is a joke he gets named for every job, but Providence would be foolish to not call Schmidt. This is a perfect year for him to leave, team coming back is less than special and there have to be questions if SBU can maintain its level of success with NIL and the transfer portal.
