Someone posted this link on the Blazers board.

Overpaid Players List

ERob only #9 on the top 10 list...

Funny how so many names on this list pop up in our trade fantasies (KVH, Ilgauskas, Potapenko, Croshere, Pollard, Thomas).

What a crap list.

Explain to me why players Tom Gugliotta, Tariq Abdul Wahad, Antonio Davis, Maurice Taylor, Shawn Kemp, Brian Grant, Hakeem Olajuwon, Michael Dickerson, Grant Hill, Todd MacCulloch, don't crack that list?

DaBullz will pop a blood vessel when he sees that Juwan "The Franchise" Howard got votes. Especially considering that he is paid less than everyone else in the whole darn list. :grinning:

Actually, conspicuously absent is Jalen Rose, right?

For Howard's $4.9M salary, he's put up 15.3 PPG on 44% FG with 7 RPG.

i think zach randolph should be on that
Zach is certainly paying dividends this year, but if you average his salary over three seasons, two of which he rode the bench, he's not underpaid.

But I agree he'll be due for a big raise when his rookie contract is up.

Yeah, they posted such a list in USAtoday a while back. I remember it had Crawford and Gill in the top 10. It also had Tayshaun Prince and Flip Murray on the list, seems like Boozer was also on the list.

It seems a little unfair to me to include guys on their first contract as underpaid, since that's based on the rookie scale. I'd also exclude old guys who are giving up some money to get a ring (Malone, Payton, Charlie Ward etc).

How about this- construct the best team you can close to the salary cap of $44M

1- Billups ($5), Antonio Daniels ($2.2), Mike James ($700K)
2- Artest ($5.2), Corey Maggette ($5.5)
3- Peja ($6.2), Stephen Jackson ($1)
4- Ben Wallace ($5.5), Donyell Marshall ($4.5), Brian Cardinal ($700K)
5- Brad Miller ($7), Mark Blount ($950K)

OK, that's 12 players for a total $44.5M. Could you get a better deal than these guys?

This is what these guys on the free agent market. I don't know if this would be the best team in the league, but it'd be pretty close. 4 All-Stars (Artest, Peja, Big Ben, Miller) and then Maggette as the sixth man off the bench.

Hmm

1- Stoudamire ($14.4), Howard Eisley (5.8)
2- Allan Houston ($16), Penny Hardaway ($13.5)
3- Keith Van Horn ($13.2), Jalen Rose ($13.3), Tariq Abdul-Wahad ($6.2)
4- Vin Baker ($13), Antonio McDyess ($13), Austin Croshere ($7.2)
5- Mutombo ($17), Brian Grant ($12.1)

That'd be a grand total of $144.7M- some $100M over the "All-Underpaid" team.

And pretty clearly, the All-Underpaid guys would whup the All-Overpaid guys' butts.

Best team possible for under 44 million which doesn't include any rookies, or Malone/Payton -

PG - Sam Cassell, Carlos Arroyo, Mike James
SG - Michael Redd, Bobbly Jackson, Kendall Gill
SF - Peja Stojakovic, Ron Artest, Stephen Jackson
PF - Donyell Marshall, Kurt Thomas
C - Ben Wallace, Brian Skinner, Mark Blount

Cassell - 5.25 mil
Arroyo - 1 mil
James - 650,000

Redd - 3.0 mil
B Jackson - 2.9 mil
Gill - 1 mil

Peja - 6.1 mil
Artest - 5.2
S Jackson - 1 mil

Marshall - 4.5 mil
Thomas - 5.4 mil

Wallace - 5.5 mil
Blount - 950,000
Skinner - 1.5 mil

All of which equals 43.95 million, right on the money, and then for the minimum you can sign Jelani McCoy to round out your 15th spot.

Sorted. :greatjob:
