The header used above seems a little overstated to say the least, given that we don't know the number of passes thrown and all of the ensuing events, just those instances where a pass was credited as an assist on a made field goal. Never fear though, we are tracking every touch for certain teams this season, and would hope to be doing it for every team in 2005-06. So being a little grandiose at present could perhaps be forgiven if we deliver the real deal next year!

Not shocking to see Carter, Marion and Stoudemire as the players most reliant on one teammate for assisted FGM's. Kidd to Carter would be the top combination if they had played together for more than half a season.

Interesting stuff. It's important to understand that an assist isn't always a credit to the passer making a great pass, a lot of times a player can set himself up to score by moving off the ball. That makes the passers job easy. For example, Rip Hamilton works hard to get open by running off screens, while Billups will often just make an easy pass for an open jumper by Hamilton.

The conclusion that Mcinnis is thinking to much about playing off of James and that is why he has fallen out of favor is inacurate, a cursury appraisal of the situation would give you that answer.

Without getting into any of the analysis, the raw data--Gooden and Lebron, right up there. I'm suprised there are more Lebron to Gooden assists than Z. If Z just finished his shots the first time he shot them instead of usually taking two shots on his layups he might be right there.

 This is why Z leads the league in offensive rebounds.

Interesting to see Blount to Pierce on that list. It would be fun to see what Walker to Pierce could be if Pierce wasn't a *******.

Ain't that the truth. Guys like Newble and Harris can join that club with him, how many times do you see them missing wide open layups/jumpers on passes from James. Gooden and Lebron definitely have good chemistry (though any PF seems to, look at Boozer last year) so it's not surprising to see them on that list.

I guess wherever Carter is, he has one teammate who really knows well where he likes to get the ball.

players who get assisted alot are players who stats are "iflated"... meaning they are doing great because of the system they are in.... For example... if marion was in lets say Mcgrady's shoes..... well he would only score probably around 10 to 14 ppg, since he cant create his shot as well as players who soley really on themselves(the gifted offensive payers).

People know that Marion can't create his shot, and isn't as good as McGrady, why even bother bringing it up?
