Despite leading the league in scoring, coach Mike D'Antoni is looking to slow down his Phoenix Suns slightly as they visit the Detroit Pistons.

Phoenix averages 108.4 points, but defense has become a concern for D'Antoni following his team's 140-126 shootout win Friday over Toronto. The Suns have won four of their last six games, but they have allowed opponents to score 112.7 points per game and shoot 49.7 percent from the field, including 51.6 percent (63-for-122) from 3-point range.

Detroit's trademark defense was absent in the first half of its game Friday against the Milwaukee Bucks, conceding a season-worst 59 first-half points before rallying to win 112-105. It was the first time in seven games the Pistons -- who have won three straight and nine of their last 11 -- allowed an opponent to reach 100.

SEASON SERIES: Pistons, 1-0.

LAST MEETING: Nov. 10; Pistons, 111-104.
At Phoenix, Billups scored 13 of his 27 points in the first quarter and also had 11 assists for the Pistons, who shot 53.8 percent from the field. Barbosa scored 21 points off the bench for the Suns.

The Dallas Mavericks picked a bad time for a rare slump. They'll look to snap their longest losing streak of the season when they host the Denver Nuggets. The Mavericks trail the first-place Spurs by three games in the Southwest Division. The two are also battling for the best record in the Western Conference, but since the three division winners will get the top three seeds in the playoffs, the second-place finisher will be seeded fourth.

The Nuggets are six games ahead of the second-place Utah Jazz in the Northwest Division with nine games left. They beat Minnesota 106-94 on Friday to snap a two game losing streak.

Coming off yet another 40-point game, Kobe Bryant tries to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to their sixth win in seven games and closer to a playoff berth as they host the Houston Rockets. Bryant set a single-season career high for points with 2,499, and his next 40-point game will tie the franchise record of 23 established by Elgin Baylor in the 1962-63 season. Bryant, who is averaging a league-high 34.7 points, has three 40-point efforts in his last six games and three in 30 lifetime games against the Rockets.

Houston has won three of its last four games but is struggling to make up ground in the playoff race. The Rockets are 11th in the West, 4 1/2 games behind Sacramento with 10 to play.

SEASON SERIES: Tied, 1-1.

LAST MEETING: Feb. 8; Lakers, 89-78.
At Houston, Bryant scored 32 points and Cook added 27 and 10 rebounds as the Lakers snapped a four-game losing streak. Alston had 16 points and eight assists while Yao added 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Rockets, who were outrebounded 48-40.

i saw if Kwame bodies up Yao nicely, and just punks him, he should contain him....

and Lakers should win it....as far as the Pistons Suns, i hope the Pistons win,

but who knows, the Suns never seem to lose
anyone even watching this game?

Suns lead 29-22 after 1. It's been a good game so far.
Phoenix as a whole is putting on a clinic. There's no one more fun to watch.
Diaw and one. Phoenix running wild on Detroit right now. 70% FG

Barbosa is putting on a show.

hell yeah he is. I've always down on him but he's played well this yr. More consistent and not as frenetic. And I was waiting for that.

defensively, this is the best we've played in a long time. Maybe one of the best efforts all yr so far.

I can't believe we're shooting 71% to their 44% and it's half way through the 2nd.

Yeah. :jawdrop:

When was the last time some body was playing like this against Detriot?
The Suns are doing what they want so far as they inflict their will. They are also shooting an insane 71% FG....and Nash hasn't even scored yet.

I see they pulled out the Retros again. Nice touch.
Chauncey Billups just got a Tech.

56-41 Suns, with 2:29 left in the 2nd Quarter.

Yeah, love those retros. I'd be nice to see them go back to the 1992-1993 Suns jerseys. I loved those, but I doubt the league will have Phoenix wearing them during retro games.

I don't think I've seen Nash attempt a shot at all lol
Wow, Raja Bell with a buzzer beating 3 point bank shot to end the half.

The Suns are leading the Pistons 63-49 at halftime.
what ****ing shot by Bell. Damn.

Suns lead at the half 63-49.
How abt discussing how awesome the Suns' offense is, Marc, Pip and Dan? The league's best offensive team drops 64 and all they want to talk abt is Detroit's lack of emphasis on D under Saunders
Rasheed Wallace just got his 16th technical foul.

81-74 Suns, 3rd Quarter.
The Pistons were on a 19-9 run.

84-81 Suns after 3 Quarters.
I may be wrong, but I don't think Rasheed is going to be suspended yet.

He's had 2 of his techs rescinded by the league this year so they don't count as fines or count towards a suspension, so he would need 18 before he gets suspended.

Or maybe they take them off the stat sheet when they are rescinded too, meaning he will be suspended.
WOW...great comeback by Pistons.

Suns up by 1 with 7:34 left in the 4th
