Don’t get me wrong, Marquette is a powerhouse, but I really think UVM can give them some problems. UVM is unlike any of the teams they see in the big east - it’s an uncomfortable style to guard against and Marquettes big men don’t make me lose sleep. Marquette might be too much to handle, but at the very least I bet Vermont makes it a game.

Much respect to Tyler Kolek, but can definitely compete.

Hope I’m wrong but I don’t think this particular Vermont team is built well for an upset. Last year I felt like the team was legitimately good enough to hang with anyone. This years team will need a lot of help. Hopefully we get hot from three and Marquette has an off night.

Yeah that is how I feel too. I wonder if Penn will be as effective against bigger and faster players. If Veretto (to pull guys out) and say Deloney (to keep up the pace with the second unit) can have big games and the rest of the guys do their normal thing maybe we have a chance.

Remember to cancel your rooms for Tuesday and Wednesday night in Dayton, in case you booked them back in January on the advice of others.

It's an uphill climb, no doubt. To reference a comment above, if it feels like we're not built well for an upset compared to years past, it's because we're not. Straight up, we're not as good and were seeded accordingly. But the answer to how often 15's win is "not never." Marquette has some size but isn't massive. They've got some perimeter shooters, but teams also shoot well on the perimeter against them. We tend to take care of the ball well, and Marquette is going to put that to the ultimate test.

Is it more likely we lose by 20+ than win by 1? Yeah, probably. But we all know the rules going in. The tourney needs the small schools, but isn't for the small schools. Let's do what we can with the 40 minutes we're given.
