As of the morning of March 26, the Nuggets magic number for a playoff spot is 12. That means any combination of 12 Nuggets wins and Timberwolves losses puts the Nuggets in the playoffs. The Timberwolves have 13 games remaining and the Nuggets have 15 games remaining.

The best thing the Nuggets can do is to just keep winning games. They have a 3 game lead on the Timberwolves and trail the Grizzlies by 2 games for the 7th spot with 2 games still to come between the Grizzlies and Nuggets.

Minnesota is a team capable of winning games with Cassell back in the lineup and here are Karl thoughts

Eyeballing Minnesota's final 13 games, Karl said he believes the Timberwolves can win at least 10, which would force the Nuggets to win at least nine of their final 15 games. Minnesota probably will hold the tiebreaker against Denver by virtue of either winning the season series or having a better division record.

Magic Number is still 11 since the Nuggets lost to the Suns.

Food for thought
Karl figures it could take 46 wins for the Nuggets to clinch a playoff spot. He would prefer the Nuggets curtail their happiness a bit until they reach that figure.
