Knicks see dream (Vince), reality (Tim)

From the start of this season, fortune has not been on Thomas' side, either. Beset by injuries and family tragedies, he got off to a miserable start.
As of last summer, Carter was seeking to leave Toronto - preferably for New York, people close to him said. Isiah Thomas would've been more than happy to have him, as the two had a good relationship.
But the Knicks eventually lost out to the Nets, who managed to acquire Thomas in December despite not giving up much talent in return (Alonzo Mourning, Aaron Williams, Eric Williams and two first-round picks). Thomas' stock had been sinking early in the season, though.
