Pickups Rose, Taylor making a difference

Thomas seemed much more excited about the two draft picks he picked up that day than about adding Taylor or Rose. But in looking toward the future, the Knicks picked up two players who are giving them some very real help in the present.
Against the Celtics Wednesday night, Taylor and Rose helped the Knicks impersonate a good team when they needed it most. With injured Kurt Thomas out of the lineup, the two totaled 23 points and 18 rebounds. They also helped the Knicks clamp down defensively on the Celtics, who had won 11 of 12.
"Malik is a tough guy. He talks on defense and he's a very good rebounder," Williams said. "He moves people around. He's very versatile.

Rose is providing some leadership for a team doesn't really have a leader. Marbury is too moody to be a full-time leader and KT is too angry and belligerant. Rose is the type of role player that championship teams need. I am usually a statistics-oriented fan, but Rose has a value that goes beyond the box score...
