If the Clips hold on to him and not trade him and if he wants the max as reported, Baylor should call him up and really ask him "what have u done lately to get it?"

Not to trash Odom more but any fan can realize if he wouldnt have gotton caught with weed, he probably wouldnt have gotton hurt the way he did cuz he wouldnt have been suspended. And If he wasnt hurt, Clips would have made the playoffs.

he's just saying IF, not that its true... and to me it makes sense somewhat, u mess up and the team doesn't do good, some of it goes to u... BUT the only way to keep Odom would be to MAX or nearly MAX him out... but there is NO WAY him and Miles can be on the same team, Miles needs to start soon.. maybe trade Odom midseason, if not now?

But Phoenix brings up the hard fact that it would be really hard to pay Odom the max if in that situation... i don't see the clips doing it if this happens... (and i HOPE with all my might, this never comes close and Odom gets traded...)

No, you read it again. It seems to me you're the one having trouble understanding it. The condition wasn't whether Odom would ask for the max, it was whether the team would keep him.

He stated as fact that Odom, per a report, had or will ask for a max contract. Hence I asked for validation.

u gonna tell me that u actually think Odom is NOT gonna ask for the MAX? with the numbers he puts up ( proven to put up when not injured) he will definitely command the max, expecially with the team people feel he helped resurrect.

As with Odom staying, even if most of the rumors are false, it is undeniable that the clippers could have done some kind of deal and hornets/cavs would have wanted the clips most valuable player, and since nothing has been done, it seems for the moment the clips are gonna stay with what has gotten them there...

The report is pure crap.

Odom has even admitted that he understands that his latest problems has hurt his potential contract.

He's not going to publicly say that, then demand the MAX a short time later.

Odom and his agent understand that right now, he's in a situation where he needs to prove himself all over again. If he truly wanted to sign an extension right now, he'd have to settel for a deal much less than the MAX. But he's not going to do that. He'll play next year and reprove himself, THEN get the MAX that the deserves.
