Apologies for the belated game thread. I completely forgot that Philly starts practically all of their weekend games at noon.

It's a little past halftime, and the score is 63-59 Sixers. Allen Iverson has 19 points and Glenn Robinson has 18. Pau is shooting 4-6 from the field.

Mike Miller, after another do-nothing game, hits the go-ahead layup with 36 seconds left. Memphis by 2. :gopray:

I was wondering that myself. I thought Hubie might have benched him.

Another big road victory for the Grizzlies. Now if Minny takes Houston this afternoon, we will have a chance to catch the Rockets on Monday in the Tomb of Doom!

And that's all she wrote. Hard-fought win for Memphis, who trailed for much of the second half. Showed some real poise down the clutch, despite two missed free throws.

I thought AI was going to get 40...

Most of you probably already know, but the Minnesota vs Houston game is on ABC right now.

Houston is leading 25 to 13 at the end of the first.

I was at the game this afternoon, and it was a thriller from the get go. Both teams started off hot from the field with each of them scoring 30 some points in the first quarter. J-Will was on fireeee his first three shots of the game (which were three-pointers), but he cooled off once he came back into the game after he was benched. I never agreed with that type of coaching, (Taking a player out of the game when he is hot from the field)but it payed off in the end with the Grizzlies winning.

Miller played a horrrible horrible horrible offensive game until his last minute heroics at the end. I believe that man is clutch. I must say though, that Miller did a great job defensively on Iverson in key situations. Miller was simply too big for Iverson to handle. He was getting a hand in AI's face, every jump shot he took.

The game never reached double-digit leads which made it all the more exciting.

I was wearing a J-Will jersey in a sea of Philly fans, so I got harrassed my fair share during the game.

Also, the refs were straight up Terrible calling the game. Memphis hardly got any calls on there side throughout the entire game, except for the fourth quarter. Somehow, the refs starting calling some fouls, rightfully, against the Sixers during the key strectches late in the fourth quarter. I was relieved to say the least. I was barkin at the refs the whole game, and it paid off eventually.

AI gets alot of calls in the paint. I read some quotes some time ago from Iverson saying that he doesn't get as many calls in games anymore, because he says refs think he can handle the tough play. Hmmm, he sure as hell received alot of calls today.

I sat next to some smoking babes as well. They got drunk. It was pretty funny.

Good win for the Grizzlies!! Regretfully, Dahntay did not receive any playing time tonight. :sigh: :sigh: Oh well, his due will come soon.

No Jason Williams for all of the second half because of a migraine. No Earl Watson for the last 53 seconds of a tie game because he fouled out.

You're minus-two in point guards, and the other team has Allen Iverson, arguably the NBA's most unstoppable backcourt player.

And oh yeah, you're on the road.

So what do you do?

If you're the Grizzlies, you stick 6-8 shooting guard Mike Miller at the point to make the play of the game after he hadn't scored a basket until the last three minutes. Then, you play great team defense. Finally, you get on your charter jet and go home before anybody realizes you won a 91-87 decision over the 76ers Saturday afternoon in Wachovia Center.

Before a Philly home crowd of 20,054, stoked for today's NFC championship game between the Eagles and the Carolina Panthers, the 21-18 Grizzlies limited the 18-22 76ers to three points on their last 13 possessions.

Including Wright, the Griz had four players in double figures with Pau Gasol scoring 16, James Posey hitting 14 and reserve Shane Battier contributing 12 points and 10 rebounds. But it was the player who took the least amount of shots besides Watson - Miller - who had the greatest impact at the end.

"Some people might doubt our 10-man rotation," said Grizzlies center Lorenzen Wright, who had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. "But in a game like this, it shows why it works. We had fresh people at the end while they (the 76ers) had a lot of people carrying a lot of minutes. And we had people who have been in that situation before with the experience to make plays."
