Matchups to Watch

Carlos Arroyo put up big numbers in the January 2nd game between the teams. It will be Jason Williams' job to slow him down.

Head Coach: Hubie Brown

Notes
From the COMMERCIAL APPEAL:

Guard Mike Miller did not practice Thursday because of back spasms and his availability could be a game-time decision. Miller aggravated his back Jan. 21 during a home win against the Los Angeles Lakers. He continued to play well despite the injury but moved gingerly during the second half of Wednesday's loss to Portland. Bonzi Wells would start if Miller is unable to play.
Injury Report
- Mike Miller (back spasms) is a gametime decision.
- Troy Bell (sore left knee), Theron Smith (back spasms), and Ryan Humphrey (concussion) are on the injured list.

Notes
Utah recently snapped a five-game losing streak by winning back-to-back games at home. Matt Harpring's season-ending knee surgery all but put the Jazz out of playoff contention. They remain competitive but the Jazz don't figure to make a serious push without the versatile swingman. After consulting with five different doctors, Harpring finally decided to have surgery done to clean out a spot under his right kneecap that had become too painful to play on. Harpring left as the Utah's leading scorer with 16.2 points per game. Said Harpring: "You never want to go through this, but I've been dealing with this pain the whole year."
Injury Report
- Mo Williams (sprained ankle) is day-to-day.
- Curtis Borchardt (broken right wrist) and Keon Clark (bone spur, right ankle) are on the injured list.
- Matt Harpring (knee surgery) is out for the season.
- Ben Handlogten (torn ACL, left knee) is out for the season.

I don't want Mike to miss any games, but I'd like to see what Bonzi could do in the starting lineup. I think playing on the second unit makes it significantly more difficult for him. Earl Watson and Bo Outlaw don't exactly scare anyone with their offensive abilities, so its easier for teams to focus in on Bonzi. But at the same time, we must have someone with the ability to score on the second unit as long as the team is going with the 10-man rotation.

Miller hurting his back concerns me. I remember him going down with back spasms shortly after being traded here last season; he was pretty much done for the year. :uhoh:

Jerry Sloan's one of my favorite coaches, but he's a bit of a drama queen. Charging the floor to protect his player after the ball seemingly inadvertently struck a Jazz after a dead ball. C'mon now.

Rebounding is hurting us right now.

They just called an offensive foul and a defensive foul on the same two players involved in the play.

Who finds the officials that the Grizz normally get at home? :whatever:

Pull Gasol. Take him out and put him next to Jake. And don't start him against Detroit. I'm sick of his lackluster bull****.

Gasol and Wright have combined for 5 rebounds so far. That is beyond pathetic.

Thank God for James Posey.
Our defense this game has been unreal. My DOG could take Gasol to the hole. Arroyo has put on a clinic for Williams (and Watson for that matter). If the ball gets in the lane, then it's a given that we aren't stopping it.

Raja Bell is almost outscoring our whole bench by himself. What does that say?

Well, this has been painful, and tomorrow night might not be any better. Both Mike Miller and Stromile Swift won't be available.

We really should have handled Portland and Utah at home.

Wow...

Gasol grabbed 2 rebounds in 37 minutes... That must be a career low :D I wonder what happened to him... cause the Jazz have no quality big men... (Kirilenko is a SF)

1-9 FGs

Worst game by Gasol in his NBA career (prolly in his bball career)
