Matchups to Watch

Jerry Stackhouse, in his second game back, meets heralded defender James Posey.

Head Coach: Hubie Brown

Notes
The Memphis Grizzlies, after losing three straight games on the tail end of January, regained their focus with a Monday victory over Golden State and will now travel to the nation's capital in their only game inside the MCI Center this season. The Grizz defeated the Wiz, 92-77, in their December 5th matchup, in which Memphis got out to a quick lead and didn't look back. In their most recent game against the Warriors, Pau Gasol took over down the stretch, helping the team pull out a win. Lorenzen Wright also had 18, despite giving up another monster game in the middle to Erick Dampier. Memphis, who still outrebounded GS 46-34, will not have as much of a problem defending Washington in the paint.

Injury Report
Mike Miller (back) is a gametime decision. Jake Tsakalidis (bacterial infection) did not travel with the team. Troy Bell (sore left knee), Theron Smith (back spasms), and Ryan Humphrey (concussion) are on the injured list.

Notes
Jerry Stackhouse returned in a loss against Cleveland on Sunday; he was 5-14 with 13 points and still appears to be adjusting his rhythm. Despite getting solid efforts from rookies Jarvis Hayes and Steve Blake and causing a combined 15 turnovers from the starting Cav backcourt, Washington was done in by their lack of rebounding. Kwame Brown came off the bench and only played 21 minutes due to a small cartilege injury to his nose, caused by an inadvertent bump by teammate Torraye Braggs.

Injury Report
Gilbert Arenas (lower abdominal strain), Mitchell Butler (sore right knee) and Chris Whitney (left ankle sprain) are on the injured list.

Wow. Can someone explain to me how this game played out from a viewers point of view please?? THis sounds like it was quite a good one on the Memphis side. They came back from quite a defecit to overcome the lowly Wizards.

Anyone??
Well, it was basically painful to watch for the majority of the first three quarters, then the Grizzlies went on a 24 to 2 run. Why in the name of all things holy the Wizards' coach refused to call a timeout during that bloodbath is beyond me.

Posey was the man tonight, again. Does anyone still think that he's overpaid and that it was a mistake to sign him? :D

Not just that he refused to call a timeout, but that he had Arenas, Hughes, Stackhouse and Kwame on the bench during the opening 4:30 or so of the quarter. I'm almost glad it happened, maybe it'll show our dopey coach not to do that ever again.

Posey just seems to have our number. He looked like a first-team all NBAer out there, and he kicked our butts earlier in the year as well.

This was a pretty good game all around, when all was said and done. Despite the wild first half of the 4th quarter, the rest of the game was pretty close and the end came down to the wire. Memphis improves to 16-1 on the season when scoring 100+ points, good work guys.
