OK, season is basically over. Let's list all the players that you think deserve mention for the NBA's regular season awards. Not who you think the media will pick, but your picks based on what you've watched, analyzed, discussed, etc. I'll start:

All NBA First Team

Dwyane Wade
Kobe Bryant
LeBron James
Dirk Nowitzki
Shaquille O'Neal (Ming was really close here)

All NBA Second Team

Steve Nash
Chauncy Billups (Arenas super close here)
Kevin Garnett
Elton Brand (Duncan isn't here simply because he has been injured)
Yao Ming

All NBA Third Team

Allen Iverson
Gilbert Arenas (Jason Kidd super close here)
Paul Pierce
Tim Duncan
Big Ben (Gasol super close here)

All Defense First Team

Kirk Hinrich
Bruce Bowen
Ron Artest
Tim Duncan
Big Ben

All Defense Second Team

Jason Kidd
Kobe Bryant
Andrei Kirilenko
Kevin Garnett
Marcus Camby

MVP: Kobe Bryant (by a hair over LeBron and Dirk)
ROY: Chris Paul, in a landslide
MIP: Boris Diaw, over David West and Smush Parker
DPOY: Ben Wallace
COY: Avery Johnson
6th man: Mike Miller

NBA Champion: Detroit Pistons over San Antonio Spurs in 6.

All NBA 1st team (Yao's a controversial pick, but I think his play has warranted his spot)

Yao Ming
Dirk Nowitzki
LeBron James
Kobe Bryant
Dwyane Wade

All NBA 2nd team (I think Gasol would qualify as a center, definitely a 2nd teamer anyways)

Pau Gasol
Elton Brand
Paul Pierce
Gilbert Arenas
Steve Nash

All NBA 3rd team (Hard to believe these group of players are 3rd teamers)

Shaquille O'neal
Tim Duncan
Kevin Garnett
Allen Iverson
Chauncey Billups

(I really want to put Carmelo in there somewhere, but I can't see him making it over any forwards I listed)

MVP: LeBron James
DPOY: Andrei Kirilenko
ROY: Chris Paul
MIP: Boris Diaw
COY: Avery Johnson
6th Man: Mike Miller

Your All-NBA and All-Defense teams look good, I'd probably change a few names, but some of them are so close that I'll hold off on that and see if I can do it later. I'll do just the awards.

MVP: Kobe Bryant
ROY: Chris Paul
MIP: Boris Diaw
DPOY: Bruce Bowen
COY: Mike Dunleavy (D'Antoni has been the best but he won last year so I'll get a new name in there)
6th man: Mike Miller

NBA Champion: Detroit Pistons over San Antonio Spurs in 6 games.
The more I think about it, the more I want to put Gasol on the 2nd Team over Ming, and Big Ben over Ming on the 3rd team, and just have Ming off any of the 3 teams altogether simply because he has only played 57 games this season. Plus, Gasol really has been comparable to Ming in every facet of the game save for defense, but he's a much better passer than Ming too.
MVP: Kobe
COY: Flip
ROY: C Paul
DPOY: Ben Wallace
MIP: Boris Diaw

One thing he isn't very comparable in is being a center - 5 starts all year. Also, he plays 5 more mpg, but still has 2 less ppg and 1.5 less rpg on lower %s (especially FT%). In a More Valuable Player context, it would definitely go to Pau, just for playing so much and having so much more team success, of course, but these All-NBA teams has usually been more about production and peak performance.
I agree with every single thing that EHL said, except i think Flip should the COY.
MVP. Lebron (id like to see kobe win to agro lebron up for next season though)
MIP. David West (just edging diaw, james and parker)
6th Man. Mike Miller
DPOY. Big Ben
ROY. C. Paul by a mile

1st team
C. Camby (shaq or yao could go here, but all 3 havnt really played a whole lot, and theres no other real centers)
F. Brand
F. Lebron
G. Kobe
G. Wade

2nd team
C. Shaq
F. Dirk
F. Garnett
G. Iverson
G. Nash

3rd team
C. Yao
F. Duncan
F. Pierce
G. Arenas
G. Paul

Defensive Team.
C. Big Ben
F. Garnett
F. Artest
G. Bowen (pushing it for a guard i know)
G. Billups or hinrich

D-team 2
C. Camby
F. Duncan
F. Kiralenko
G. Hassel (pushing it again i know, kobe otherwise)
G. Billups or Hinrich

yao - 22.3 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.65 blocks, 52% fg shooting, 85% free throws, 34.1 minutes
gasol - 20.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.94 blocks, 50% fg shooting, 69% free throws, 39.2 minutes

comparable? sure i guess though yao is clearly equal or better in everything but assists(4.6 to 1.5 in gasol's favor).

but yao is 1st team over shaq. he has just been better and they've played the same number of games.

COY will probably go to Flip because of Detroit's record. I like the mentions of Dunleavy, but this season shouldn't have been such a surprise (+8 or so Ws over last year. Season before that similar improvement). Still I'm hoping Dunleavy gets the award!
Avery should also get consideration if Dallas can win the West.

OK, season is basically over. Let's list all the players that you think deserve mention for the NBA's regular season awards.
The problem is,
for some of the awards it's so close that it'll come down to the last game of the year.
LuckyAC, yeah, but staying on the floor is important and being healthy is important, and Pau has been just that this season. Yao not so much. Plus Pau has become a superb passer out of double teams, something Yao has yet to master. That's a big step IMO.

rocketeer, good point about Shaq, I thought he had played at least 65, but I was wrong.

universal, yeah, in terms of MVP winner it may come down to the last game. But otherwise? I think everything else is pretty close to set, maybe a couple guards fluctuating between 1st and 2nd teams (like Wade, Kobe, and Nash, depends how much voters emphasize team record).

Btw, I think I'll change my COY to Flip, can't believe I didn't think of him first. Impressive that he was able to open up their offense so much and be so incredibly successful doing it, while having one of the best starts in all of NBA history. Avery has been good, just not as good.
MVP: Kobe Bryant
ROY: Chris Paul (Not as big a margin as it was halfway through the year though.)
MIP: Boris Diaw
DPOY: Ben Wallace
COY: Mike D'Antoni
6th Man: Mike Miller
MVP: Dirk Nowitzki (by a hair over LeBron and Kobe)

Their PERs (for what it's worth, Yao is 8th in the league, Gasol 16th), TS% (Yao 11th, Gasol 55th) and rebound rates (10th and 37th) aren't even close. And although it's not reflected in assists, which isn't a good stat, Yao really is a very good passer. Though it's amazing how good a passer Gasol has become this season. He doesn't even appear to think any more. Just knows when.
MVP:Kobe-Barely won in the closest MVP race in years.
Closest Runner-ups:Dirk,Lebron.
-----------------------
MIP:Gerald Wallace-2 Blocks and 2 steals a game is unreal, upset Boris Diaw
Closest Runner-ups:Boris Diaw, Kwame Brown(He can catch balls already)
-----------------------
ROY:Chris Paul-Turned Hornets to a decent team.
Closest Runner-ups:Felton,Villanueva
-----------------------
DPOY:Ben Wallace-Anchor of the leagues stingiest defense.
Closest Runner-ups:Bruce Bowen, Andre Kirilenko
-----------------------
COY:Avery Johnson- Gave Dallas a defensive identity.
Runner-ups:Mike D'Antoni, Flip Saunders
-----------------------
6MOTY:Mike Miller- Didn't he have a triple double off the bench? Also scored I think 50+ off it.
Runner-ups:Speedy Claxton, Eddie House.

Wish I could find some way to get Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett on that forward list. Much as I'm told these lists are about the player's superiority, their team success this year casts a more negative light than guys like Anthony and Marion.
