Did you see that crowd tonight? I thought it was a Kings game back in 2002. They had the place jumping. I haven't looked at the attendance records, but I've heard great things about the Oklahoma City fanbase.

David Stern insists that the Hornets are staying in New Orleans without a doubt no questions asked, but that's just ridiculous. Byron Scott said it best, we all love New Orleans and will do all that's possible to get the city back on it's feet, but it's going to take awhile. Until then, New Orleans is not in any position to support a franchise and in Byron Scott's words, basketball shouldn't be a very big priority for that city right now.

valid points. this was an amazing outing by both the hornets and their fans on their only national game, and I fully agree with the fact that this city deserves a pro franchise.

Scott will most likely not have to worry about it. He's probably waiting for Phil to step down to get the L.A. gig. This is why he's asking for a 5-6 year extension. When he doesn't get one for that long, that will be his excuse to want to move on. OKC has been very supportive of the Hornets but so would have Tokyo or Mobile, Alabama under the circumstances. They may get a franchise one day but Stern and the NBA will not want to be known as the league that bailed on a city because of a natural disaster. Now put yourself in New Orleans' shoes. A natural disaster hits your town. A city that has wanted a franchise for sometime has a chance to prove their worth(because of this natural disaster). But instead of trying to prove their worth, they want to loot your team. The team they're harboring for your city while your city gets back on their feet. Now granted not everyone feels this way in OKC. A huge tornado comes and rips your arena apart and tore up many houses and killed people. Another city has to babysit your team. They're all excited because they've never had pro sports and then all of sudden, they've grown attached to your team and want to keep them. How would you feel? Really. How would you feel? It was agreed upon by the city of N.O. and the league that they will play another 35 games next season in OKC while N.O. gets back on it's feet (population and economically). They have a lease with N.O. until 2012 and Stern has said more times than once that the league is not into breaking leases.

The guy I'm producing a show with went down to New Orleans this past week and said nothing has changed some 6th months later.

Look whether anyone likes it or not, the Hornets are not going to remain in New Orleans (the Saints for that matter). The city needs to focus on fixing it's decrepit provinces within the city limits first before worrying bout teams.

Whether anyone likes it or not, it was a major disaster but few things have indeed changed. It's still very bad there, still lots and lots to be done which is why the Hornets will only play 6 games there next year instead of a full 41. I mean if someone would listen to some you would swear that no people are living in N.O.. You would think that there are no lights or electricity. There are people there returning to jobs that they are able to return to and rebuilding their homes. No, sports is not the biggest priority and the city of N.O. knows that. I mean if they were crazy that lease could have forced the Hornets to play a full season there next year but no one would have benefited from that.

The Sonics look like the most likely suspect. It looks like things are going to get ugly between the Starbucks guy,the voters and the municipal government. If they don't get a new building then they probably leave.

If it was me I would want to go to Vegas because that is indubitably the most prosperous city without a franchise(and a tourist destination so you could get lots of fans from your opponent coming in to see their team and all the other stuff. It has growth, high employment and disposable income so that I could be sure people could afford to go to the games.

Of course there's a whole host of problems with Vegas starting with the sportsbooks and the legalized hoochie, but I would be pretty sure I could sell tickets so I would want to go there if the Maloofs didn't get there first.

As long as the NBA doesn't expand again. There are already too many teams in the league.

My solution would be to just move one of the LA teams there. There is no reason that one city needs two NBA teams.

That was a very healthy crowd there tonight but surprisingly for their national tv debut it wasn't a sellout since they're always trying to rag on N.O. for not selling out every game. As though every arena sells out every single night. They have had great crowds there. And pac4eva I guess it's going to be retarded then. Barring another natural disaster, they are returning to New Orleans. I'm through with this thread and all the naysayers that are on the outside looking in. I'm just glad not everyone feels that way.

Add a team to Oklahoma City, a team to Las Vegas, rearrange the conferences so there are 16 teams in each, have a 32 team playoff with a one and done system.
