Should the Trail Blazers move to Oklahoma?

Oklahoma Trail Blazers?

Last night, I was amazed by the amount of fan support the Hornets got when they played Memphis. The Hornets will probably move back to New Orleans next season and Oklahoma City deserves an NBA team! With the recent struggles of the Portland Trail Blazers and Paul Allen, wouldn't it be a great idea to move them to Oklahoma? The Blazers still got the "Jail Blazer" image and they need a fresh start in a new city. The attendance for Blazer games this season had been horrible. Also, they should be called Oklahoma Trail Blazers not Oklahoma City Trail Blazers because you don't hear them say, the New York City Knicks. One final thing I would like to add is the name fits because there was the Cherokee Trail that happenned from the 1840s to 1860s that involved the region around Oklahoma.

The NBA can't just move teams, it can only allow or not allow owners to move their teams. The Blazer franchise currently has an obligation to the Rose Garden in Portland, which necessitates a new owner either buy the Garden or play the team there.

Since no one is going to buy the Garden and then move the team, this is pretty much a non-starter, IMO.
Move one of the LA teams. No reason one city needs two NBA teams.

Just because attendance hasn't been so great for a couple of seasons is no reason to move a team. If that were the case, just about every subpar team would move every year.

The Blazers aren't going anywhere.
None of the LA teams want to move. Paul Allen was thinking of moving the Blazers.

Btw, what the hell happened to the Blazers? They were on a good rebuilding start 2 years or so ago, then everything sorta crumbled and they signed undeserving contracts left and right (Darius Miles).
There is a reason LA has two teams and that's because the city can support two teams. New York is the same way (when the Nets move to Brooklyn).
Man, if the Blazers moved... I dont even wanna think about what would happen over on the blazers board.
Oklahoma Trail Blazers? sounds like a CBA team.

this true, being that New York and LA respectively make up the largest basketball markets in the world. You could, theoretically, support 3 teams in either city/area.
whatever happened to the move a team to las vegas bandwagon?

David Stern happened.
well if Portland were to Move I think Oklahoma City would be a prime canadate. because they have shown that they will support a team, even if its just on loan to them. I think that fact alone would be the main reason an owner would move a team there. but I dont think it will be Portland who will move. my money would be on Seattle to move.

Perhaps the Jail Blazers would be best served to have a change of location.

This is exactly right, it would be extremely difficult for the blazers to move. The group that owns the arena does not want to sell, and I believe there is a 17 year lease on the rose garden. They likely will change owners, or, there is just as high of a possibility of paul allen tanking the team going out of business as the team moving.
why Trail Blazers?

yeah almost as wrong as Utah Jazz or Los Angeles Lakers.
Portland is a great Basketball market, and they have always supported the team. The dreased attendance is probably a result of the displeasure they have of the owners threats of moving the team and the fact that they are one of the worst teams in the league

Oklahoma has been great so far, but would it be a good long term sustainable option?
