Two different multi-time all-stars were born on this date: one in 1956 and one in 1970.

Marques Johnson was a 5-time all-star and 3-time all-NBA player during his 11-year career. He is currently a basketball analyst for Fox Sports Net.

Alonzo Mourning was a 7-time all-star, 2-time all-NBA player, and 2-time Defensive Player of the Year in his 15-year career. Prior the start of the 2000–01 season, Mourning was diagnosed with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, a disease of the kidneys, that had caused him to miss the first five months of that season. Even after the diagnosis, Mourning returned and played in the 2002 NBA All-Star Game. He later went on to win a championship as a reserve in the twilight of his career. He also managed to make over $143 million over his time in the NBA.
