One of the weirdest game notes ever...

From the Pacers/Heat game, one of the game notes at the bottom of the page says:

"Tinsley had a over-the-head, no-look, 60-foot underhanded try hit the front rim as the halftime buzzer sounded. It wouldn't have counted."

Not very often that you hear about shots that not only didn't go in, but wouldn't have counted anyway.

Yeah, that is strange. I also wonder how you throw a ball over-the-head, but also underhanded ? That doesn't seem to make sense.

yeah, I was trying to imagine how the **** he did that...

can somebody explain the mechanics of this one???
Sounds like a shot while facing the opponent's basket. Can't do that without doing it underhanded.
I imagine it being backwards over the head, if that helps, though I didn't see the game. But it is a strange and ultra-irrelevant note.
its a backward granny shot. there is no way to shoot an overhand backward shot.

Go NeTs
They mentioned it because it was a backwards granny shot from 2/3rds of the court yet it still hit the rim.
That's pretty insane for Tinsley to even attempt it.....

why would he be doing that in the first place? sounds like he got a steal or a loose ball; anyone who watched the game care to clarify?

If you shoot backwards, I suppose you could call that an underhanded, backward shot.
How the hell can you shoot whilst facing the wrong way............overhanded?
I remember it from last night. The shot happened about a second after the buzzer. Tinsley was facing the oppposite basket and threw it over his head granny shot style.
I was there. He got a rebound with like less then a second left in the quarter so he just threw it over his head. He was facing the wrong way when he got the rebound so he just threw it over his head. It was a granny shot, facing the wrong way if you can imagine that, and it didn't touch the rim it hit the backboard.
