They had triple this crowd in 89.
Probably not quite triple, no need to fish tale it. But certainly huge, I've seen reported around 6000 (I wasn't there, but I remember it being a big deal). Here's a photo from that 1989 Sweet 16 game at the old Centennial soccer field...
Those old bleachers were bigger than the ones at Virtue. It was also easier to stand around the perimeter of the field to watch (they did yank the wind screens down last night to open up that area behind the north goal). Also, I wouldn't be surprised if there was no "selling out" back in the day. Can you find some space? Here's a ticket!
Curious what the ceiling was on what they could have drawn last night if they didn't cap it.
