NEW YORK -- Don Chaney and his two top assistant coaches were fired by the New York Knicks, and Lenny Wilkens was hired as the team's new head coach Wednesday, according to ousted assistant Brendan Malone.

"They fired Don, myself and Lon Kruger," Malone said as he left Madison Square Garden two hours before the Knicks' game against the Orlando Magic. Malone said Wilkens, the NBA leader in career coaching victories, would be the new coach.....

Nice upgrade for the Knicks. It was just a matter of time.

Boy oh boy, if nothing else, Zeke knows how to clean house.

they actually hired the czar fratello i think...dunno why ESPN has lenny wilkens. i guess someone over there was smoking the dew today.

edit: nevermind i was confused. there were rumors that they hired the czar but actually they hired wilkens.

and according to MSG pre-game:

Tonight the Knicks vs. the Magic with "interim" coach Herb Williams.

Wilkens will join the team tomorrow.

why do we care? THE DRAMA, dammit, that's why!!

Wilkins may have won more games then anyone else in history. but he has also lost more games then anyone else. And he hasnt done anything significant for about 10 years. This isnt a Hubie, or Vermeil type of hiring. This was a reach by Thomas. Wilkins will be gone within 2 years
