Scouting Report = Freakish athlete, great defender, alright playmaking skills, horrendous shooter.

He has a lot of potential, but I don't know. His shooting really scares me off but I wouldn't be surprised if we wanted him cause his defense and athleticism is what we like.

He'd be perfect for the Nets. Rondo's a juggernaut of a defensive prospect, I think the best to come out in years. Literally from game one of his rookie year, you put him on the other team's best perimeter player, whether they be 5'10 or 6'7. He's that good. His offensive game's a little underdeveloped, but his superb quickness and ballhandling, and his natural feel for the game suggest he could develop into a weapon on both sides of the court.

Unfortunately, he'll be gone before the Nets pick.

That's why I bring it up. The Nets might always trade up.

Only thing is are they going to go after a big, or find Kidd's future replacement?

Yes he would, and with that speed on the break and being able to get into the lane he would definitly be a + instead of a -....Oh yeah did I mention he plays "DEFENSE"....Something I'm sure Coach Frank would love to have on the court even with his erractic jump shot............Just think of him as JKidd with more Athleticism.

The Nets have too many needs to trade two picks to get Rondo.

That said, they don't seem to want anything to do with paying two first rounders, so getting a guy in Rondo's range (11-20) is a real possibility.

Another guy with a lot of potential and a great NBA body.

Frank would play him because of his defense and he would combine with Wright to make a formidable defensive combo.

Guards who shoot like him better pass, dribble, and rebound like Kidd, because otherwise they have trouble getting starter minutes.

An interesting and unique player, but he's a bit risky for a team that needs a pure point and an active big man.

Because of all the guys that supposedly arent going to be there this year, he will be out of the nets reach. Like ghoti said, too many needs to trade two draft picks for a PG who still has a lot of question marks. Although I really like what Rondo brings to the table.

Would the Nets consider trading up to draft Rondo and see if they can find a sleeper PF in the second round? The Nets have many needs, but if Ilic comes next season, I doubt if the Nets keep 4 rookies on the roster. So they will likely try to trade up. A quick PG who can defend will be an important addition to the team.

He still has to spend a ton of time in the weight room to even come close to having an NBA frame. More importantly he has to spend a considerable amount of time with a shooting coach. He still has potential though, so some of those things can be overlooked.

I say keep the two picks. If we trade them for a higher pick, and he's taken, we just screwed ourselves. Better off keeping both picks and seeing who's there when it's our turn.
I can see the Rockets drafting a PG. The Raptors have said they want to trade their pick, so who knows? Like I said before, Ilic is going to be an important part of the equation. If he comes, they might either trade up, or stash another Euro with the second round pick.

I hear that Rondo is a really good defender. You can always improve shooting but defense is hard to teach so that's definitely a plus. He's a great penetrator as well much like a TJ Ford. He should be a very good prospect.
