OT: Random Thoughts

I was thinking the other day while watching the news, "Am I really being informed here? Are these people actually reporting news to me, or simply giving opinions and following the predictable pattern of talking points?"

Do you guys sometimes get the feeling that your brain is rotting when you watch certain news programs or stations? One day I had the idea that outside of Cavaliers games, I wouldn't watch any television. Any news or entertainment I'd want during that time period would have to come from the internet. The funny thing is after a week went by, I felt more lucid, my imagination seemed more powerful and I felt more focused. Maybe I'm just rambling here but have you ever questioned what you see in the media, what they tell and choose to show you? My concern extends beyond just politics, even sports coverage is biased, slanted, inaccurate and highly questionable. We're constantly told LeBron isn't clutch and after hitting a game-winner, Yahoo's sports page says LeBron's new image is the "King of Clutch." While I'm happy LeBron is getting respect, I see their sudden change of heart as a way to be more dramatic and attract more attention to their stories.

I'll watch anything and it's all questionable. My day starts off to hearing, "America and the war on terror... civilian wire tapping (don't get me started on this crap, you remember my old thread, I honestly believe my phone was being tapped that one day)... weapons of mass destruction.... blah, blah, blah..." When I think by watching sports, that I can get away from the nonsense, Charles Barkley and his regular anti-Cleveland epic speeches nearly ruins basketball games for me. Am I the only one who thinks most television these days is utter crap?

Thoughts?

The media definitely has bias: sensationalism always leads to more news. You have to be aware of these things and make an informed decision
What's great is, every criticism that has been thrown at James he overcomes.

1st it was he's overrated, can't shoot, etc. he'll be lucky to avg 15ppg his 1st year.
Then it was great stats, but no wins.
Then it was ok he has great stats, he's getting wins, but he's "not clutch".

Now that he is making big plays down the stretch doing all of the above, it will be interesting to see what is next.

The criticism from the Nat'l media is actually a positive in a sense that it seems to fuel his motivation to prove them wrong.

HAHA I saw random thoughts as the topic header and dropped my rant

Though I would argue that alot of the nat'l media's unfounded criticism, and desire to get Lebron out of Ohio ties into what I posted.
