The state of Connecticut has reached a new deal with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe and Mohegan Tribe to allow for sports wagering and online betting, the governor’s office announced early Thursday. Earlier in March, the state announced a deal with the Mohegan Tribe, but at the time, said it was...
Does that mean no more Vegas trips for NCAA picks, lsbal? 😉
Good news for UMBC fans, and me, Maryland looks like they're finally moving forward with their sports gambling bill which is now in the state senate and expected to pass before the legislative session ends next month.
Will hopefully be able to wager on the next UMBC Vermont game, although I'm not sure if they'll have one of those collegiate cutouts for games involving Maryland teams like NJ does.

Vegas is a staple in my life. The golf courses are amazing there. Other than some of the classic destinations that I’ve golfed at ( Pebble Beach/Spyglass/Spanish Bay/Pinehurst/Baltesrol/Khanapali,coeur d’ Alene, etc) it is aesthetically as nice as any that I’ve played at.
i used to go 2 times every fall to experience football in vegas & golf. Plus we did our fantasy football draft in Vegas....which is a lot different than my fantasy baseball draft which is in Manhattan.
the other key thing I love about vegas is shopping for odds. One of the years that I won with UConn winning the championship I had them at 150-1 while I saw them as low as 30-1. I figure out which teams I want to bet then goto the different hotels and make a spreadsheet of odds. The worst year for me was I had 3 of the final 4 teams. The only one I didn’t have was duke. I had butler at 175-1. We all know how that ended. Now if I had local gambling I would have hedged my bet by betting a percentage on duke the day of the game.
So bottom line is while CT will have probably 20 locations to place bets I imagine they will all follow the same odds.
my favorite place to watch the football games was legasse stadium and that closed down during covid. Now a hotel opened downtown ( though we always stay on the strip) that has an amphitheater above their pools. So you hang out in the pools and can watch all the games on huge screens outside.
Based on where I am in NJ, Mohegan and Foxwoods are basically the same distance as Atlantic City. Considering I'm way past my partying prime and the relatives I have in Mass., this news is certainly welcomed.
Yes. It’s one screen that can be divided up into different feeds, so all the games will be on the screen, and whatever games that aren’t on the sound, you can use the Tunity app for audio.
Admission is $10 to enter, usually $30 food and beverage minimum for a lounge chair if there’s no special event going on (it’s possible this weekend is considered a special event), tables and cabanas are obviously more, and it’s open all year. In any case, you can make reservations online, and it’s not pretentious or douchy like the dayclubs on The Strip; we’re just a different crowd, and old.
To get even into the casino, you have to show your ID, and you said your friend knows Derrick Stevens, so that’s a plus on other perks. The indoor sportsbook is just as good; the screen is three stories high (about the size of the one upstairs in the pool), and since it’s been colder than usual the last few weeks, so I just chill there instead.
What’s that pool scene like, though? Is it cool or is it a bunch of dudes from Arizona with arm sleeve tattoos swimming around drinking beers & eating chicken wings/dropping the bones in the pool?
My biggest issue with sports betting in NH is that I live so close to the VT border that if I am hitting a VT tower I cannot bet on my phone. Didn't even know they had locations will have to check that out done time.
Sports books will be officially open in 5 months in MA from the latest I have heard from Beacon Hill. The target is March Madness I have not been in the Encore since it opened (and is 5-10 min from my apartment, however I will be a regular once it has the sports book.
I know this isn't what you're arguing, but I have to add there's a huge difference with online gambling vs brick & mortar
