Funny that you just created this thread as I saw this article a few minutes ago and was going to bring it here: Steven Ashworth

I really hope they crush it this year. I will definitely be following them.

USU fan here — it was a rough game, and the type of loss we haven’t taken for awhile. I wish I were more optimistic for this season, but I think the combination of the bare cupboard Smith left and RJ’s skillset not transferring to this level as well as I would have hoped, I think we are in for a tough season.

Odom will need to up his recruiting game and make some tough offseason decisions with the roster, but I am still excited for the Odom era overall. It just really couldn’t have started any worse.

Let's not forget about Akin. He's the player of the game in Cal Baptist's opening night against DII San Francisco St. Two minutes left and they're up by 20.
Good for Akin! 15 and 7.

Arkel was a DNP for unknown reasons in UMKC's opener, while Jose Placer had 13 points against Texas Tech for North Florida.

Was surprised by two things: some clunky, non-Odom like offense throughout the night and how much the backcourt players struggled last night even at a one-on-one level against a foe like UC Davis. In particular was expecting much more from Jones. Also not a bunch of Odom's staple penetrating and kicking.

Defensively, I thought there was a lot of positives, and credit to some really tough baskets down the stretch for UC Davis. I. could see Odom trying to win games in the 60s and 50s this year if they're having trouble scoring/making 3's.

I've seen a lot Odom doubt/frustration on your board last night/today, and definitely a poor debut, but this will only help motivate and focus the group moving forward this year, I surmise. Big opportunity on Friday night vs. Richmond to bounce back.

Did Craig Smith not recruit three pointers? Was his staple more of an inside game?

Utah State is about to pull out the win over Richmond, preseason #2 in the A-10. This was a very well-played, high level game. With 35 secs left, USU is up 83-71. There have been a total of 12 turnovers in the game, 7 by Utah State and 5 by Richmond. Amazing.

Really fun game to watch. Two solid teams. Happy for Odom and the old UMBC crew. The Mountain West is just a really solid league.

USU going into Double OT against Penn. Another Horvath strong performance, and Eytle-Rock struggling. The execution by the Aggies at the end of regulation and the first OT was mindblowingly poor and they're lucky to still be playing.
