I don’t see Ryan Odom leaving the Mountain West for the Big South, even if it is in North Carolina.

I agree with this. I do think he's an attractive candidate nonetheless and I wouldn't be surprised if he left after the year

Utah State up 42-33 just before end of the first half. Akin with 8 and 5 so far.
Odom has done well for himself at Utah State so far. He’ll be in for a big time job if he continues on this path.

No, it will/would definitely take a few more years of sustained success.

Utah State’s NET Ranking is 18 after last night. Arizona State is 60. I’m with you, that’s egregious.

What’s even worse is that CBS’s Jerry Palm says the same thing, and FOX Sport’s Mike Decourcy has them both out. By conference, the Mountain West has a better NET than the PAC 12, even if the latter has a projected 1 seed.

The "TV bracketologists" get paid by whatever networks they work for to push a narrative that favors the teams they have TV rights for. Like umbc said above, the random bloggers on bracketmatrix do a much better job

It does feel like the Mountain West will get 3 teams in: San Diego State, Utah State, and Boise State.
Utah State can secure it in my opinion with a win tonight against Boise State.
Speaking of Odom going to a big time school, didn't he have an offer from Virginia Tech while at UMBC that he turned down?

Updated Story: Despite early reports suggesting that UMBC men's basketball head coach Ryan Odom was in line to take over as the head man at Virginia Tech, it appears as if Odom and the Hokies do not have a deal in place and he will be staying at UMBC, according to new reports.

I was talking about this on the USU thread, but I think it's most likely he stays at USU, maybe with a pay bump if they keep winning in March.
I don't think Cal (which I've seen him linked to in several place) would be desirable to him at all, and I think there is small chance he's going to get a job like Georgetown right now. High Point is desperate and all-in it appears, and ultimately Odom wants to be in Carolina (remember he was very close to agreeing with Charleston in 2021). But leaving Utah State for a lower mid-major would be an incredible risk basketball-wise. I don't think the check will be big enough to make that risk worth it.

Outside of North Carolina, maybe Wake Forest and NC State opens up in a few years.
The Wake Forest connection would be cool given his father coached there, Dave Odom.
