Utah State with a dominant 44 point second half to advance to the MWC Final tomorrow vs. SDSU.

Locked. In.

RJ Eytle-Rock was AWESOME with 13 points, Akin added 7 & 8.
Wow, went to bed at half and felt that BSU was going to eek it out on their physicality. Eytle-Rock didn't have a great first half, good to see the script flipped in the 2nd.

Utah State was royally f******d on an egregious 3 point overturn. Had to play the FT game and lost.

They looked tired today, but should be in for sure.

Excited for the matchup.

Odom did an interview today with the small radio show at Pressbox he did regularly at UMBC. Really, really cool to see that. A good listen all-around, from talking about postgame texts every game from last years' players Justin Bean + Brock Miller to talk about the group text thread that is still active amongst the 2018 UMBC team. Starts around 1:22:00.

From Odom's presser today:

"What also makes me smile is a guy like RJ Eytle-Rock who has stepped in for him. RJ came with us from UMBC. We didn't make it to the dance. We were close. One of the reasons that he came out here with us is because he wanted a good shot at it. Not that we couldn't have made it there, I think we could have.

To see him smile the other day when our name was called, that's everything for me. To have Dan Akin here, as well, who was with us at UMBC, the last remaining player that played in that Virginia game, jumped center that night. For him to be able to experience this with us again is going to be really rewarding."

George Mason may be opening with Kim English likely headed to Providence. Seems like a potential, interesting landing spot for Odom to come back east. It's a downgrade basketball-wise from Utah State, but could be intriguing to him if offered.

I would think he would want to go up again no? The current A-10 is not as good as the MWC and I would think if Odom gets to the Tournament again next season he would start to get interest by the ACC?

He has some work to do this off-season. At least Akin is done and Funk as well. I think RJ has a Covid year left. Bairstow, Dorius, and Jones all have a year left.

Odom has five freshmen signed for next season according to VC. So I would guess he expects all the seniors to leave. He still has a good pair of guards in Ashworth and Shulga but he is going to need some guys to step up to stay in contention.

I'd be really surprised if he left after only two years. He's a year or two away from a legit conference winner, I would think he'd want to pad that resume before moving on.
It's been confirmed he interviewed, and he was a GA there.

The AD that hired Odom has left, and clearly Logan is not his 'end goal' destination. I think a USF or Mason-level job could be a good fit for a few years to work up towards a bigger East Coast job.

I was looking at the Utah St board, and it turns out that...
a) the AD who is there has the interim tag
b) the president, who is on her own way out at the end of the school year, won't allow the interim AD to make any personel changes, and wants her successor to hire the next AD
c) Odom wants a raise and extention
d) his buyout goes from $1.2 million to $840k on April 1

He could stay and continue to rebuild, but who knows what's going to happen come July 1?
