How's Darius overrated? And how are Fortson and KG underrated? KG gets a ton of hype. Fortson is a one-dimensional player.

Explain why Dirk is overrated.
Last two years he has average 38 MPG (missed 6 games), 22-23 PPG, 10 RPG, 47% overall, 39-40% 3pt, 84-85% FT 2APG, 1 Stl and 1 Blk. He has only played four years in the league and his points, all shooting percentages and rebounds have improved every year. What more do you expect? How can he be overrated?

Immediately switch around Peja and Marion please. Marion is now one of the most overrated players in the league, everyone talks about him and thinks he is some kind of franchise player. Everyone disrespects Peja, he must be the most disrespected 24 year old putting up 21 + ppg in the league over the last few years.

No. He isn't the most disrespected on the list at least not by the author of the list. Dirk is also 24 and putting equal or better numbers in every category.

The guy wro created this list doesn't understand what 'overrated' and 'underrated' means... If the common population on here thinks a player is hot **** while he isn't then he's overrated, a player can not be underrated if everyone talks about him.

Im right people, just accept it and move on (to a new topic that is).
Dirks got some of the worst D in the L. (BTW HEATLUNATIC, it's Nowitzki not Novizki)

Peja's overrated too, he's a shooter, that's it.

DMiles gets hyped up like he's the 2nd coming of Garnett yet his numbers arent even as good as Lee Nailons.

Szczberiaks similar to Peja (Szczerbiaks a great shooter though, over 50% for a jump shooter)

Sprewells got the "I play in New York so ofcourse im gonna be overrated" syndrome.

Bibby put up average numbers in the regular season, has a good series againt LA, and all of a suddne he's the next Jason Kidd. If Bibby can play great like he did in the LA series during an entire season, then ill remove the overrated tag.

Brent Barry is no-doubt-about-it the mostunderrated guy in the game. check out his stats, if he ever became a ball hog shooter like Iverson he'd become a superstar. (his assists and rebounds are very similar to Kobes and T-Macs, his shooting % smokes both of theirs, all he needs is to raise his scoring average by shooting more)

Al Harrington was a lock for 6th man of the year till he got hurt, his numbers smoked QRichardsons, yet you all seem to think Qs a future superstar while Als a "role player". Al was the 25th pick in the 98 draft yet he's outplaying everyone asides from Andre Miller from the 99 draft (Martin, Swift, Miles, Mihm, Miller etc.).

Garnetts the best in the game, better than Kobe and T-Mac, yet he gets hated on by everyone because his teams suck in the playoffs. You all see Garnetts numbers in the PLs? see all those 20+ rebounding games? He's the man, ifhe ever bulked up he'd be more dominating than Shaq.

Fortsons maybe the best rebounder in the L, asides from maybe Ben Wallace, yet he gets 0 respect. Sure, hes not the Shot blocker BW is but his offensive skills are far superior to Bens.

Marions a lot better than Peja Kings fans. You all got whipped by LA. Learn to accept reality. Thank you.

Jalen Rose should put up Kobe-type numbers since he now plays with weak-*** Chicago. (BTW Bulls fans, Jay Will will never be nearly as good as Rose so remember Jalens the team leader ok?)

Peja is one of the most underrated players in the league, period. He is a good all around player. 'Shooters' dont average 21+ or 23.7 (Webber out) when they are somewhat the first option. Marion and Garnett are way too hyped to be called underrated.

Overrated -

Marion
Miller
Rasheed Wallace
Darius Miles
Raef Lafrentz

Yo Kingsman good call on Sheed he's suppose t be one of the best Pf's in basketball and with the allstar team he has he can even get them to the Western Conf Finals.... But the Miller on you list that can't be Andre RIGHT?

Unfortunately it is Dre, lol. I've watched atleast 6 Cav games full length. He's a strong and steady guard, but he isn't anywhere near the max or worth some of the trade packages I've heard going around.

Your serious? I definitely ain't no Dre Miller fan but he is so consistent with everything...He almost always makes the right smart play as opposed to the fancy one he avg about 18pts and 11ast. Led the league in Ast. and has a good attitude about winning and about being a team player. I mean for god sake he was willing to stay in Cleveland even for the max not many people would want to do that!!!

The pistons would not have been in the playoffs if not for ben wallace. "oh he can't score" okay... Consider that he was the best rebounder in the league on the WORST rebounding team in the league and the main reason the pistons cut 5 points off their points allowed total.last year. But then I look at your underrated team : everybody except Peja is on extreme losing squads and one person who is a cheap version of wallace except for he don't block shots or rack up the steal totals (that's something no one talks about..that wallace was 14th in the league in steals and theonly guy his size ahead of him was karl malone. you can't find a center in the top 50 where ben plays most of the time)nand is a malcontent to boot (fortson). Would anybody on this board trade fortson for wallace besides you?

Before this season it was BEN WHO? OH YEAH THE CLOCK IN ENGLAND? He has absolutely no skills he is raw and can leap and has long arms. With all those things in the NBA you better be able to block shots and grab rebounds. Fortson avg approx 13pts and 12rebs. Wallace an amazing WOW 6pts(probably all on dunks) and 13 or 14 Rebs. with a real good 3 or 4 blocks. So defensively he's good but in basketball skills and any offensive skills he's TERRIBLE!!!

Uh your point?

Oh and danny fortson was a 5 time star huh

You didn't hear me I guess. THE PISTONS WOULDN"T BE IN THE PLAYOFFS IF NOT FOR BEN WALLACE. how in the hell can you say a man is overrated who was a vital piece of an 18 game improvement. Detroit went from 32-50 to 50-32. Golden state went from 17-65 ....to an amazing 21-61 and danny fortson led the way. Man he is a vastly underrated player I didn't realize that until now

what makes someone overrated or underrated? the statistics? or the fact that they play a large part of their teams' successes(and failures)? but you want stats? okay we will do it your way

numbers by fortson in 2001-2002
G GS MIN FG FG% 3P 3P% FT FT% STL BLK TO PF OFF DEF TOT AST PTS
77 76 28.8 4.0-9.4 .428 0.0-0.1 .250 3.2-4.0 .795 0.57 0.22 2.1 3.3 3.8 7.9 11.7 1.6 11.2

he shoots better free throws by far..but that's 11 points really and 12 rebounds, a half a steal, a fifth of a block a game on a 21 game winner. Plus he wants to fight teammates and forever demands to get traded from every team he is on.

Wallace's 2001-2002numbers
G GS MIN FG FG% 3P 3P% FT FT% STL BLK TO PF OFF DEF TOT AST PTS
80 80 36.5 3.2-6.0 .531 0.0-0.0 .000 1.2-2.9 .423 1.73 3.47 0.9 2.2 4.0 9.0 13.0 1.4 7.6
bad free throw shooting ben ......but he played near 8 more minutes averaged more than a steal more than fortson more than 3 blocks more ( which could be up to 9 points prevented by ben since he can guard SG's on the perimeter...which offsets the 3.6 points Danny boy scored more last season) more than a rebound more than Fortson too. Forston has him in assists by a bit... :uhoh: ...also have to mention fortson also averaged over twice the turnovers ben did and and Danny Spreewell :upset: was tied for 7th in the league for technicals fouls with 16.
Hmmm .... does Ben Wallace even get technicals? And who is the hard working piston player and does whatever the coach asks of him?

one more thing. Ben has missed five games in the last 3 years

Fortson? Played in 77 games last year. showed up for 6 the year before and participated in 55 in 1999-2000
Gee a regular iron man.

Wallace has improved his stats the last 3 years while coming into the league UNDRAFTED. One can't be any less reguarded can you? hey you even say he better be able to rebound right? cause' he has long arms right? and nobody else has long arms and can jump in the league right? And all this time I thought Rebounding was about positioning and desire. Oh .. I almost forgot... Fortson was a lottery pick wasn't he? Like tenth overall? So he was expected to be a great player wasn't he? Has he lived up the high standing he had leaving college? Of course he has.

for fortson's numbers
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/statistics?statsId=3149
for wallace
