I have to confess I've only seen a couple of Baylor's games this year, but why does Perry Jones look like a detriment to the team and yet he's considered a top 3 NBA draft pick? I don't get it. He doesn't hustle, he barely touches the ball, he's not particularly quick or strong... I just don't get it.

Someone tell me I'm wrong.

This one is baffling because he was going to be a top 3 pick. In addition to that, he's going to miss 5 games to start the season. I dont know if its the lockout scaring these kids, or maybe its just they love school, but the quality of this draft keeps taking hit after hit.

Ohio State's Jared Sullinger started the freshmen trend of potential top 10 NBA draft picks returning to school.

Baylor's Perry Jones III has taken Sullinger's lead.

North Carolina's Harrison Barnes could be next as Barnes weighs his decision this week.

Sullinger made it known to his coaching staff throughout the season that he didn't want to leave. But Jones' decision was a surprise, especially considering he has to serve a five-game suspension to start next season as part of an NCAA penalty for accepting improper benefits prior to enrollment.

"His family is very much like the Sullingers,'' Baylor coach Scott Drew said Monday. "There was a lot of parental guidance in this decision. They wanted the best for their son and they didn't want him to be one-and-done. The potential [NBA] lockout also had something to do with this, like it might for everybody else.''

Jones' suspension was ill-timed since the first of the original six-game ban occurred on the eve of the Big 12 tournament. Baylor ruled the freshman standout ineligible prior to the Big 12 tourney game against Oklahoma. Baylor challenged the rule, but technically the school, not the NCAA, rules players ineligible and then asks for reinstatement. The NCAA reinstatement committee upheld the total suspension of six games.

I just don't think he's that good.

He looks like one of those prospects people drool over because of his natural tools. They continue to drool over until the player is 28 and still sitting on the bench in the NBA.

Or Harrison Barnes, heck Jones' teammate Miller is in the running too.
I think its going to be between Quincy Miller and Anthony Davis. The Durant comparisons will start in earnest.

Ummm Anthony Davis isn't dropping past the 1st 3, and if you watched Quincy Miller play, how many players in this class have that type of potential. You don't have to be a genius to know that NBA scouts are going to be drooling over those two, especially one guy that looks like he has a similar skillset as Durant.

He's back....Baylor might quite possibly have the best frontcourt in college. They are seriously loaded with big men.

I was more thinking along the lines of freak injuries now that you've endorsed them for #1. ;)

That was before Drummond popped on the scene. He might not even be top 3 or 4 anymore. Really talented field this year.

Baylor's Perry Jones also drew praise from NBA execs in the building. Jones, frankly, was a surprise participant. Very few teams actually thought he'd show. He was put in with the power forwards and worked really hard in all the drills in an attempt to spell criticism that he doesn't have a great motor. He didn't shoot the ball particularly well, but his decision to show up and play hard helped.

I know Mavericks were looking at Perry at #17 as he was sliding already, now w/ this he could fall even more. I would've been really excited if he fell to us just based on potential and previously being a top 3candidate. Now I don't know.
