When Luke Babbitt walked up to the podium at Madison Square Garden to greet David Stern, he had a feeling that the Minnesota Timberwolves hat he was wearing wouldn't stay.
"I walked up there thinking, 'I'm probably not going to Minnesota,'" Babbitt said.

He was right.

Babbitt, the 16th overall pick from Nevada, was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers during Thursday's draft. He said he wasn't surprised to hear that he was being sent to his second NBA team.

"You hear about it all the time, guys getting traded on draft night," he said. "Nothing would have surprised me tonight."

The Trail Blazers also acquired Ryan Gomes in the deal, sending forward Martell Webster to Minnesota.

Asked to describe draft night, Babbitt said, "I don't even know if I can comprehend it. This has been a crazy night."
I really hate losing Webster. I've been a fan and supporter of his and think he'll do well. But at least he'll probably get more playing time. Hope Babbit works out if we keep him.
