Jackson had spoken with Kobe Bryant before about quality of shots. They had a talk about quantity after Wednesday's game against the New York Knicks.
Bryant scored 42 points on 15-of-36 shooting. The rest of the team combined for 49 shots.
"I told him I liked the quality of his shots that he took," Jackson said. "The quantity, I was a little suspicious that that might be high. But the quality of his shots I liked because he was clearing himself, he was getting good looks.
"A couple of times, I thought he forced the ball. That's the moment when passing has to take precedence over attempting to score on your own."
Jackson told Bryant he was unhappy with the quality of his shots after an exhibition last month. At the time, Jackson said Bryant "pushed the envelope real far" after forcing some shots late in a 111-108 overtime victory over the Washington Wizards.
Bryant made 12 of 35 shots against the Clippers. The rest of the team combined for 50 shots.
