According to a poster on the Chicago Bulls board, he has a legitimate source telling him that the Bulls and the Magic are having serious talks about a Marcus Fizer/Mike Miller swap. Now, I'm probably wrong, but this guy doesn't seem as goofy as some others who insist they have the inside track on potential trades.

If there's any truth to it, I hope Krause gives the deal some serious consideration. It would solidify us at the swing positions. Fizer would likely have been replaced by a free agent who cares about defense and rebounding anyways. With Miller in the fold, Krause has more options with the #2 pick in the draft, especially if Jay Williams happens to be unavailable. Under those circumstances it wouldn't surprise me to see him trade down a few slots, pick up a veteran and then select a player like Wilcox.

Anyhow, at this point it seems like nothing more than an unsubstantiated rumor. But you never know. At least this rumor seems reasonable.

I was up late last night and i IM him on Aim. He says he will come here and join. Seems to know more than he is letting on. Doesnt post much. I didnt know what to think of it last night because it sounded like us last summer trying to get miller for fizer. If remotely true, that tells me hill is closer to 100% now. They do need some power down low. but fizer in order to really help them has to really be more consistant with his rebounding. As he would have to do for us as well should this trade not happen. Granted he doesnt shoot the ball as well as wally does. Almost 44%. His threes are around 39% but for a sf he rebunds pretty good and dishes out assists also. He missed 19 games due to injury, well actually more than 19 if you count the play offs.

Then again rumor has it that orlando is interested in fortson.

I also saw the post and it did have an air of believability, though it doesn't mean the trigger is going to be pulled. The Magic are hurting at the 4 and 5 and Fizer would help. A lot will depend on what other deals are available. MBSH mentioned Crawford, Fizer and a future switch of #1's for Wally. I have a friend who is tied into the Minnesota sports team who told me that is the price the T'Wolves are looking for. In another thread, I think it was NCBulls fan who brought up the potential problem involved with Houston having a partial hold on our #1 from the Bryce Drew deal.
My opinion, I want Jay Williams and I'll be closely watching to see what offseason moves we will be making.. This is the quiet before the storm.

Sickey, I envy your job. Remember, this is the Magic approaching us, not visa versa and the source never said anything about us going for it. Orlando desperately needs help at the 4, more than we need help at the 3. I am not a huge Miller fan and we do have Jalen Rose and hopefully ERob.

i think that sounds like a pretty solid deal... it does help both teams causes a bit.

but it's also dependent on the health of two SF's...
if Hill isn't 100%, it doesn't help the Magic very much to trade away their second best remaining swing man.

and if ERob is healthy, it gives the Bulls an overabundance of players at the swing spot

- which isn't all bad actually. if ERob and Miller can hold down the SF position, that leaves Rose and Hassell to split the SG spot, and at point guard, Crawford and JWill/Best, whichever ends up on the team next season

there's still a GREAT need for a back up 4/5 -- someone who could play 40min if neccesary... perhaps even two big men need to be signed

as good as I think Curry and Chandler will be, i don't wholly believe they'll be THAT good this coming season, so they could use all the help they can get

Boy, Sicky your post are starting to remind me more and more of EastBay FJ everyday :grinning: are you sure you're not related somehow?

If Fizzer goes without returning a 4 in return then the Bull need a 4. If they don't get one in free agency then they draft one with the #2 pick. Yes that's right: Drew Gooden. Chandler is a 5 in the making. He's quick enough to guard 4's and will play there for a long time but his second position and eventual main position is the 5. If Fizzer leaves for Miller, who is the backup 4?

What a tremendous rotation:
5: Curry/Bags/Chandler
4: Chandler/Curry/Bags

Oh the depth!
Oh the quality!

I am now officially in favor of this trade. Fizzer for the punk Miller and draft Gooden(my first  ). yee hah!
================================
Either that or an improved and expanded sicko idea which eliminates the "wait until next years cap #'s are used" issue:

#3/Fortson/Arenas for #2/Fizzer/Hoiberg
which works NOW. Then sign a "Hoiberg" who can actually SHOOT the 3 in Eric Piatkowski!
Nice post, Sicky.

I think this trade hinges on different views from Orlando and Chicago.

If Orlando were to do it, it means that Grant Hill is healthy, so they don't need Miller as insurance, and they can break up Tracy McGrady from his buddy because they have a greater need up front, especially if Horace Grant doesn't come back and Ewing is near the end of the line.

From Chicago's perspective, they still need another body up front with Curry, Chandler and Bags in the rotation. Whether that's Fizer, or someone they get from free agency, or the draft, they still need one more guy in their say, 10 man rotation, and one good backup in case someone gets hurt. If the Bulls do this, they either have a free agent lined up, or they are thinking about a big forward like Drew Gooden.

Because if they draft J-Will or Dunleavy, Fizer's wide body will come in handy, in the short term, although I agree that Chandler is quite possibly a future center, or at least a power forward - center when he grows into that body (meaning bulks up by the time he's 23, say).

i agree with you jammer. When i first saw this trade at realgm, thats the first thing that came into my mind. Hill is healthy enough for Orlando to offer such a trade. Last year at this time a lot of us would have said yes! Lets do it. Orlando could use him. They dont lose that much in scoring by getting fizer. With us, it opens up the offense even more than it did with fizer. Allowing Chandler and Curry to operate down low. And yes, i agree that if this trade were real and happened, we would need a big man via FA. Maybe even drafting one with our low second round pick also.

Don't mean to break up the lovefest, but according to some Bulls folk who should know, there actually is some truth to the Fizer/Miller rumor. I couldn't get anyone to expand on the subject other than to admit that discusions have taken place.

Hmmm, how would he look in red?

I can believe the talks are real, but they will depend on what else is involved in the trade and/or who we target free agent wise. If they are indeed real, it tells me Jay Williams is definitely our pick, which is not a shock at all as Dunleavy would be redundant (though better) if we got Miller. It tells me me, we pick Jay Williams and go after a 4 and or 5 in free agency. Been a slow week, but things are about to pick up major league.
Right now I see 1 - Ming - 2 Jay Williams - 3 Dunleavy - 4 Gooden and go from there.

No mention of Crawford being part of the discussions. However, I was told that if the Magic want to talk about adding Jamal to the package they'll have to sweeten their end of the deal considerably.

Maybe we could get them to swap their first round pick for our #30 along with the Fizer/Miller deal so that they don't have to carry a guaranteed contract....

That's pretty much how I feel about the possible deal. I hope the trade happens as Miller for Fizer straight up or with little else involved (2nd rounders/end of benchers might be ok).

Pull the trigger!!!

I think Krause would do this in a heartbeat.

However, I would expect that this deal would be on hold until Orlando figured out how is on the board when they draft. If the right big man (Boozer?) is there, fuggetaboutit. If the 1, 2 or 3 that the want is there (Rush, FWilliams,?), then let's swap!!

Any thoughts about the Vet big man to replace Fizer? Donyell Marshall?

I think the big man that would replace Fizer would be of the Scot Williams variety. He would be a perfect fit for this team. Hell Krause could of got him last instead of ClanK.

Curry/Williams/Dali
Chandler/ Williams
Rose/Miller/Erob
Miller/ Hassell/Jamal
Jay/Jamal

Now looking at it, the trade leaves Jerry's latst fa(Robinson) aquistion looking over paid.

I agree with your top 4 picks. That should be the way they go. But deep down inside, i want williams. But i know GS wants him too!! They really, really need a point guard like him in the worse way. I would not be surprised to see a deal of some kind between GS and Chicago. With dunleavy in the deal.

However, Rumors are that crawford is on the block. If thats true, williams would stay, imo.
