One of 16 finalists for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame's Class of 2005, Bulls broadcaster Johnny "Red" Kerr fell short yet again and was informed Thursday in what has become an annually disappointing phone call.
Kerr needed 18 of 24 votes from an honors committee composed of voters from all levels of basketball who are changed annually. It's unclear how many votes Kerr received.
This year was viewed as perhaps Kerr's best chance. He was on the ballot as a contributor. Kerr has played, coached, served as an executive, ambassador for the game and longtime broadcaster.
The inductees will be announced Monday at the NCAA championship in St. Louis.
