Ricky Ledo- SG
Height- 6'7" (maybe, I don't trust this until I see an official measurement, looks more 6'5"ish to me.)
Weight- 195

My friends amongst the PC alumni are telling me that Ricky Ledo is as good as gone (apparently all he's looking for is a partially guaranteed second round contract because he already has six figure offers overseas). I liked him in high school, but haven't seen him against better competition so I'm not sure how well he projects.

I don't think he's a strong enough finisher yet, even at the high school level you could prevent him from finishing through contact, though maybe in another 20-30lbs this won't be an issue for him. But he spends a little too much time at the moment trying to fool the defender and avoid contact (which results in some gorgeous looking missed FGAs),

Great first step, very good handles for his size, decent shooter, great scorer at the high school level. Just not sure how well he projects yet. If he's lucky he'll end up on a winning team that has time to work with him. I know DE is forecasting him as an undrafted FA, but looking at the bloody abortion of second round talent this year I can't imagine no one taking a gamble on him.

(this one is Ricky Ledo/Kris Dunn)

He needs a year, no one is gonna take that kind of gamble on him. If he does have 6 figure offers overseas he needs to understand the risks involved. American youngsters that go to Europe for a year or two have no fared well. He doesn't have the rep of a Brandon Jennings to get drafted in spite of a year on the bench.

If he's not good enough to make the NBA, then a year at PC isn't going to magically transform him. And he sure as shit ain't gonna make that sort of money teaching phys ed if he goes and gets a degree. All that aside, I just look at the guards everyone's projecting in the second round and there just aren't any that I can see that have a pro future. If you're the Heat and Ricky Ledo's on the board at 60, why wouldn't you gamble?

I'd take him in the 2nd, why not? 2nd round is built for risk/reward types like this.

Just by playing and showing that he deserved his recruiting ranking can do a ton for his draft stock, and it's not like the Catholic league is going to be tremendously strong next year anyway. If he plays and drops 16+ points per game he'll be a first rounder. There is huge risk declaring for the draft and/or going overseas, and he could be a career CBAer or at least toil at that level for several years.

DraftExpress has him going high in the second, 33 to the Cavaliers.

Yes, they've decided that the rumour that he has a promise from a lottery team means that a lottery team is taking him in 2nd. Given how weak the draft is relative to when I started this thread (with a bunch of projected first rounders pulling out) I suspect that he has an actual lottery promise from someone like Dallas or OKC.

Ledo was inconsistent in Chicago, looking very good on the first day and then coming down to earth a bit in the second. His shooting was hit or miss, but his talent-level with the ball in his hands was unmistakable in terms of his able to create shots smoothly for himself and others at 6-7. He's clearly a good athlete and ball-handler, mixing in crossovers nicely and finishing above the rim on a couple of occasions. Defensively, Ledo has a ways to go and is probably a long-term project considering how little experience he brings to the table, but his upside is significantly higher than most of the prospects outside of the top-20 or 25, which could convince a team to roll the dice on him, despite the character concerns.
