Roger Mason has just made a couple smooth shots and had a beautiful drive to the hoop for an assist, early in the Raps/Clips game. Obviously three baskets, a good game does not make, but he looks noticeably faster, more in control, and confident than he ever did with the Bulls.

The Toronto commentators said that Roger felt that there was never a coach taking time to teach and show him the little things he was doing wrong when he was with the Bulls. Paraphrasing, Mason said O'neil is the first pro coach to take an interest in him. The announcers said Oneil is high on his future.

**** the Bulls.

Would the Bulls have been better off?

if they traded Crawford in the Rose deal instead of Marshall, kept Roger Mason Jr. as our SG, and traded Linton Johnson(who would be cut) for Brunson?

Brunson for Mason Jr. just seems like a deal that itching to make us regret it.

Can you imagine having another SG on the roster? How keen would that be?

Honestly, the Bulls are so bad you another sg wouldn't even be able to help that much... especially since I never bought into Rodger as a pg. What bothers me is how much better/more relaxed and well coached he looks. Maybe Mason just needed a change of scenery, but the alternative is what we all know and fear--the Bulls just don't have their ducks in a row.

I think in general Mason is just symptomatic of a lot of the problems with this franchise. We got the picks. The projects. But we obviously botched their development. And it's only begining to come out now.

It's becoming apparent that all of these young players we got received no coaching or guidance....which certainly explains why things are the way they are, no?

its one game. Its hard to draw a conclusion. And I am not watching the game. But its moves like the one that Pax made that makes me sick. It makes me really think that he is almost as bad as his brother as a GM. Why didnt JR atleast bother interviewing a guy like RC Buford? It doesnt make sense. Brunson is a zero. Atleast Mason had upside. Its a freaking joke. Moves like that have zapped me alot of my Chicago Bulls support over the year. We draft the righto kids, for the most part (not Bagaric). We train them and then get impatient and trade them for overpaid Vets for the shear sake of having a vet. Krause started it, and now Pax has bought into it. And they both should get Fs for that.

Our organization is just a mess. and this deal wouldnt least bit surprise me as one of the worst in league history. Mason could be another Arenas. Im not kidding when i say that. 2 guys who are considered great talent evaluators loved him (walsh and krause). So lets deal him after 30 games for a journeyman pg who has never been good. way to go Pax

This is just one problem with our organization. We dont scout Europe at all. We seemed to get stuck with overpaid players. we embark on rebuilding projects every turn. we let the cornerstone of this franchise (jordan) leave us and even if its 2 years away, embarass us. Its only a matter of time before the UC is the equivalent of whatever the arena in Atlanta is. And that is empty. And JR and Pax will deserve it.

You'll be saying the same words about Jamal Crawford if he finds his way to another team...

Just to put a period on this thread.....

Mason Jr. finished 2-2 in 8 minutes for 5 points, 1 assist, 2 fouls.

I liked the kid, but this is not "going off" by any stretch. I hope he and Bax get some burn and play well for the Raptor. I also hope 'Yell continues (had a horrible night tonight).

I just don't think I can ever make myself root for Jalen.

Just wanted to make sure my post wasn't being misinterpreted.

I wasn't claiming that Roger Mason is going to be good--just that with the new coaching he finally looked like an NBA player. This post is more of a stab at the cartright regime then it is support for Mason. Even if it was for short minutes, he finally looked in shape and under control.

It may not be much. But it's better than he was doing for the Bulls on average.

I bet Toronto is happy with their purchase. While we don't really know what exactly we gave away.

I've seen Mason play for a good 6 years now. I was in 8th grade when he was highly touted coming out of Good Counsel. I don't know how big of a mistake this will turn out to be. This won't turn out to be a Lou Brock for Ernie Brogolio type of deal for those Cubs fans out there. But Mason Jr. is ummmmm a defensive specialist, always making plays. He really is similar to Crawford, just not as good a shooter, but way better defender. I personally was never a huge fan of him until he was on the Bulls, but if he got 15 minutes a game he would average a couple of everything...something like 6 pts, 2 reb, 2 ast, 2 stl, 1 TO or something like that. I think all of us are becoming less convinced with the competency of this once great organization

i never understood why mason wasn't given a chance.and to trade him for a journey man scrub like bumson who won't be on the roster next year i feel was a mistake.but then again who knows the front office may feel it's time to get rid of chandler and trade him for bumson next year..

Doesn't suprise me one bit. Guys aren't motivated in Chicago. Nobody cares about losing. Half the team is out for themselves and trying to score, while the other half is out of shape. I hope Mason becomes a superstar, then maybe Bulls management will wake up and start getting some real players.
