I think he meant Darius Miles OR Caron Butler, but I still wouldn't do it.

as much as i love caron butler, andre miller is worth much more than butler alone. even though butler may have been the best player in college and the draft, andre miller is a proven star in the league and should yield the cavs more than just butler. andre miller for darius miles is a stretch also.

Cav's want too much for Miller

Asking for even Miles is too much. Yes, Miller is better but the NBA roster now has much more to do with upside, salary and cap room. If you could get Miller for cheap, that would be one thing - but he is up for big bucks. Miles is a legitimate up 'n comer who has 2 + 1 years of making minimal money - that is huge value. There are also many Clipper fans who come specifically to see Miles - very popular - more bucks for Sterling. The Clips could give up Odom + a pick which would be fair. This being a contract year, Odom should have his career year - 2 seasons back he put up borderline All-Star numbers. If they can't make a fair trade for Davis or Miller they should just send the signals out that they'll save their cap room for next summer to sign a top flight point guard. It appears both are very interested in the Clips and both would take less money to come back home. They could go after Vaughn or McGinnis for a one season deal - or decent point guard that is left after the smoke clears. Dooling, Jaric & Odom might handle the PG OK.

I think the Clippers trading Miller for Miles straight up would be a good trade for them. Miller wants $$$, which the Cavs won't give, and Miles plays in a position behind Odom and QRich, fighting for time with Maggette. Miles might just become that superstar, and he undoubtably has the talent, but how good can he get by only getting limited minutes? He will eventually have to start to reach his potential and right now there doesn't seem to be a starter spot up for grabs for Miles. Also mentioned was that Miles has more upside, which he definately does. However, Miller is a PG, which makes him more valuable as well. SGs and SFs with athleticism are becoming much more common than ball distributing point guards.

It's known that the Clippers want to trade some guys for Andre Miller, the only question is who they give. The Clippers have tons of free agents, and they all want big money, and they clearly can't sign all of them for all that money, so trading a few of them for Miller is the right move. Elton Brand will stay, and while Odom seems to be rumored a lot I think they should stick with him, he's still way better than anyone else on the team even if he had an off year...

I'm probably in the minority but I think Miles is so overrated...except for the head banging and dunking what has he even proven? The Clips would be smart to move him while his value is high for a proven commodity like Miller.

DTS is more concerned about jersey sales and not paying max contracts so I really don't see Dre going to the Clips anyway.

I somewhat agree with you here...

All Iv'e seen miles do are , alleyoop dunks, rebound or return dunks, easy lay ups... once in a great while I think you'll see an outside 10 footer or so..

But I am tired of the head banging thing.. its more taunting than their own personal thing..

About Miles

People are aware of his dunks from his Sportscenter highlights. But true Clipper fans saw Miles improve his game immensely last year (things numbers don't show). He actually had a decent outside shot for a good chunk of the season. He also has good speed, steals, blocks shots, awesome on the break +++.

Bully touched on it a bit, but I'll say some more.

What else has Miles done? Miles has shown to have the ability to be a future all NBA defensive 1st team member. He can play defense down low and block shots. He can come off his man and play help D. As the Clipper announcers point out constantly, he's the only Clipper with the ability to defend the pick and roll(which is a testament to his basketball smarts). And he's turning into a great on ball defender. Defensively, you name it, he can do it.

On offense, he's played 2 different positions in his 2 years. His rookie year, he was a PF. He hung out around the baseline and got open for lobs and grabbed some putbacks.

This year though, the Clippers played him on the perimeter more. They let him handle the ball more. They allowed him even to play the point spot at times and run the offense.
That's a drastic jump IMO, and really shows improvement.

And of course the most obvious single improvement was his jumper. His rookie year, he couldn't hit crap outside the lane. This year though, he at least developed a decent J. He knocked down quite a bit of J's compared to the year before. He's still got a long way to go, but he showed a lot of improvement.

People forget that Miles was extremely raw coming out of HS. They forget that because of the great rookie year he had. And they forget that during his rookie year he had a superstar by the name of Lamar Odom setting plays up for him. Odom's vision and passing ability is rare, and he was able to set Miles up constantly. He wasn't there this year, so Miles' offensive output wasn't as noticeable.

I dont get the overrated labels on Miles. Not one person says Miles is great at the current moment. Whenever someone mentions Miles, it's about his potential and what he can become. And he has displayed the ability to be talked about as a potential star. He's got a lot of work and is going to need time before he reaches it, if he reaches it, but the potential is there. And potential is what everyone talks about.

Very good post,,RD. I agree that Miles jumpshot is improving but he is really all about potential and image. I just think the Clips may kick themselves in a few years if they don't make a move for Davis or Miller.

My understanding is that there is so much politics in the Clipper F.O....Elg does not have the final say.

To Heatlunatic: I think you will be disappointed with Butler. JMO,,but at 6'-4 1/2'' I just don't see that he will have the impact at sf. I don't think he is athletic enough to be a great sg. Time will tell.
