Let's try one that my lady friend and I argue about regularly:

What overall effect has Reality TV had on our society? Do we truly have an American generation that's completely obsessed with attention, money, sex, and 15-minutes of fame? If so, is reality programming completely at fault? How about partially at fault? And if you think Reality TV has had little or no overall, lasting effect on our culture, what other contributing factors have been more negatively impactful on our youth?

So no one wanted sex, money, 15 minutes of fame before reality television?
It's not the desire itself but rather the overwhelming obsession with said desire that I'm asking about.
