Well, that was a fucking abortion. Everything we did offensively to look better against UMass and GMU was entirely abandoned today. It’s nothing but pounding the ball into the dust on the perimeter, standing around off the ball, and not putting bodies on anyone when shots go up.

One Luc missed three started this mess. Your best players need to set the tone in games like this. Banks missing and Luc hunting are the recipes for a 26 point L.

We’re still mostly clueless as to how to remain calm and play our game if things don’t start off ideally on the road. The first glint of adversity and we panic, reverting to terrible possessions followed by defensive lapses coming off poor possessions.
The amount of mistakes we make defensively and in transition at times that the entire arena knows we shouldn’t, and do anyway, is staggering.

SLU is better. Winning on the road will not happen this year for the young Bonnies.
That Hill T was a perfect example of a ref sticking to what he thought he saw and his interpretation of the rule. Watching the replay should have made them realize there was a lot there that wasn’t called and Hill’s “swipe,” while almost as dumb as Mellouk’s take, wasn’t worthy of a T.
How to beat the Bonnies-
Out-athlete Banks.
Run screens with a smart guard handling the ball.
Shoot threes.

SLU fans should be pissed that they didn’t win by 30. Look at that roster. I’ll just say it- Isabell, Wiley, Linnsen, Pickett, Forrester…guys like that aren’t coming to Bonas.

Schmidt prepared the folks in Olean for the loss prior to the game, by stating something to the effect that the Billikens are well-coached and have solid players. I commented that apparently Schmidt doesn’t read Billikens.com, where many of the fans are calling for Ford’s scalp and saying that the players are deficient in many areas.
