Dayton is going to be a tough out by February-March.
That's seriously to be determined. Anybody can look good against GW with nobody in the stands. Dayton isnt going anywhere unless they stop turning the ball over 20 times a game -- many the other way for gift layups.

The Billikens were a turnover machine last night, but overcame that with 21 offensive rebounds and shooting 96% from the charity stripe to win by a point.
Yep. SLU has that swag and dawg in them. Any team that plays with that effort and aggression gives themselves a chance to win. Games are filled with mistakes but if a team plays with aggression on D and confidence they have a shot night in and night out.

Dayton turned the ball over 17,16 and 12 times against Kansas, Miami and Belmont and still won in Orlando. It’s the mind numbing unforced turnovers that as you point out that lead to easy layups. There were what three or four in the first half in the VCU game. Granted VCU plays really good half court defense but these were simply lazy passes. Many of The Faithful look at Camara and his turnovers but he is averaging only one more a game than what Obi did in 19/20. Camara and Mali lead the team in turnovers but, and I don’t have any evidence to prove this, their turnovers typically don’t lead to easy points after turnovers. In Camara’s defense, Grant seems to run a lot of the offense through him, and I think he is getting more comfortable.

There’s no doubt that turnovers are too frequent and costly, but Dayton has too many players that too inconsistent and have far too many games where they disappear. Mali, Holmes, and Camara and to a lesser degree Blakney show up every game. Amzil, Weaver, Elvis and Brea get a lot of minutes and when one or two of these guys have decent games the Flyer’s win. The bench scored two points against VCU. In the post game presser Grant didn‘t bring his typical coach speaking points - he was pissed and called out the team. Now the fact that it’s his roster is a different conversation, but uncharacteristically, he didn’t compliment VCU for winning.
