....instead of drafting Trenton Hassell? Don't get me wrong, but IMO, if we would have taken Arenas, we would be in a much better position as far as roles are concerned. There would be no pressure to take J-Will and we could sell him to the highest bidder..

I love Trenton, so don't take this as a knock on him...

Arenas was fantastic in my book at the end of the year, still Golden State is lusting for Jay Williams, what does that tell you? Also this is major league hind sight and that is not how things work. We were very lucky that Hassell, our second roound pick worked out. Getting a good second roounder is a real rarity, even at the top of the second round. There should be no complaints about getting lucky enough to getting Hassel and having him pan out. Also, you are talking about rookies who will continue to develop for at least 2-3 years if not longer.

Personally, IMO Areanas wouldn't really have effected the Bulls decision on JWill or not. Heck, Kenny Saterfild was looking good too at the end of the season.

But as long as we're drafting in retrospect.

Instead of

Dali
Minnie Amim
Voskhul

the Bulls should have picked

Big Jake Tsakalidis
Micheal Redd
Eduardo Najera

then the Bulls wouldn't have had to take Hassel
though looking at the 2001 draft aside from Areanas
there really wasn't much taken after him.

See how easy drafting is after the fact.

Anyway, the Bulls really should have drafted
the rights to Ognjen Askrabic instead of picking
tweener Sean Lampley

Again see what a genius I am !!!

With Arenas instead of Hassell, we probably don't pull the trigger on the Rose trade. We really wouldn't have had a place for Best, and we would have had to keep either Artest or Mercer. At the very least, the trade would have been very different.

I don't think that it is really using hindsight. I mean, I wanted Gilbert last year during the draft. It's not like he was an unknown that turned out to be good. I was praying to hear his name called becuase I thought he was the most talented player on his Arizona squad, other than R-Jeff.

I wasn't dissapointed with Hassell, but I would probably trade Trenton straight up for Gilbert if I had the chance right now.

Yeah, it is just one of those things. I am happy with Hassell, even though at the time I wanted Arenas. I think Arenas would have flourished here.....

Sicky, I saw him play some when he was on and I thought he looked great. He kept improving and in my book he was close to a dominant player at years end, (check his game by game stats at NBA.com) yet Golden State is totally hot and bothered by JWill He is the reason GS won enough to tie with us record wise..

I think Crawford's injury more than anything is putting pressure on drafting Williams. If Crawford had played all season and put up the numbers he did we'd be trading the pick without criticism.
