Slow going.......

After a flurry of initial signings,the free-agent market,which opened Wednesday,has slowed to a trickle.

Of note to the Heat, however,is the impact the lower-than-expected luxury-tax threshold is having on two cost conscious teams.

Boston, with Rodney Rogers, and Toronto, with Keon Clark, are so tight up against the expected threshold for the dollar-for-dollar penalty on excessive payrolls that one or both of the forwards could be allowed to depart without much resistance.

In addition, the early round of signings has left the Heat with added options for its vacancy at point guard.

With Larry Hughes signed,Washington is expected to attempt to deal either Chris Whitney or Tyronn Lue.In addition, with Orlando signing Jacque Vaughn,Magic free agent Troy Hudson likely will be forced to move on.Hudson is seeking a multiyear deal worth more than $3 million annually.
