Unless the Cavs can get a Steve Nash, there's not many point guards who can distribute the ball better than Lebron and Larry Hughes. I think the best move is a guy like Barbosa who is a proven commodity in the NBA just waiting for his opportunity to shine. He's fast, he defends, and he's a score first point guard, which is what we need. I would rather see Lebron's ppg drop down into the 27 range and be well over 50 percent shooting, along with a high number of assists and rebounds. If we can get the team going so that they play more like the Suns or a Euro team, where there is constant movement and passing on offense, and we really push the break, then we could be the new showtime. But you have to have the guns. I honestly don't see why Drew Gooden couldn't get us Barbosa if Danny really wanted to go that route. It's not like Phoenix is really looking for a Nash replacement for a few years.
You know what would be a trip though. Boris Diaw as the new point guard. Just tossing that thought out there. That would be a lot of fun.
But yeah, I would think Gooden and Sasha, and then Phoenix maybe tosses in a future second rounder with Barbosa, and we call it a deal. Not sure how to make the money work, but hey, that's why they pay Danny the big bucks.
If you get Barbosa, you can focus on drafting a backup big man in the draft, which I think is what this ****ty ****ty draft is strong in. Power forwards of the backup level. I know Splitter is ranked high on a lot of draft boards, but so was Marty. Wonder if he could slip far enough in the first round for Danny to grab him? We could go brazillian for 07.
Also Rudy Fernandez is out there at the two guard if we deal Sasha for Barbosa.
