Sources: Harnum to be RIDER's new AD.

I am fairly shocked by the news, however, I have full faith that Don Harnum will lead the Rider Athletic Department forward. Harnum beat out two other finalists but apparently the associate AD at Iowa State had travel issues and withdrew from consideration.

With this news, there is now no doubt that the men's basketball team will be fully supported and continued money will be spent on atheltic facilities. Don was a major supported of a new gym and the REC center, there is now no doubt that the new gym will move forward and get done under Harnum's watch.

I sincerely hope that Don opens up the head coaching job and gives Dempsey an opportunity to interview for the position but doesn't just hand him over the job and a mediocre performance last year.

"Actively involved in the implementation of "Phase 3" of Rider's campus-wide revitalization -- a new sports arena to go with plush, apartment-style housing and the state-of-the art Student Recreation Center (SRC) currently attached to Alumni Gym -- Harnum served on the Mercer Sports Organizing Committee that helped lure thousands of fans to Trenton this week for the first and second rounds of the NCAA women's tourney.

Under interim head coach Tommy Dempsey, the Rider men's basketball team, featuring five freshmen and only two senior starters, finished in last place in the MAAC and was 8-20 overall -- it's worst season since 1988-89. A decision on Dempsey's future is expected to be among Harnum's first decisions as AD."

I think you should show your displeasure by switching your rooting interest to another school and never,NEVER post about Rider again.
The article by the Trenton Times writer continues to lie and misrepresent facts. "Harnum graduated 100% of his seniors". Stop with that drivle. And the article also says Harnum led Rider to an NIT berth and 2 regular season championships in 4 years. Also not true.

In my mind, this commits Rider to a path of mediocrity. Sorry to see this, but not unexpected.

And FYI, Beagle, Raver is an actual graduate of Rider, so his opinion counts more than yours, especially since you are not a Rider grad, and you have personal relationships with the people being written about and your opinions is far from objective.
Beags, I think you need to learn how to calm down. I don't attack your viewpoints. I am entitled to my opinion - I actually graduated from Rider.

All I am saying is open up the job for a search before handing it over to Dempsey.
You two in bed together against me pricless. This is a MAAC basketball board not a MAAC graduate board. I attended Rider at night for three years I follow and support my team in numerous ways i think I am as qualified as anybody to post about Rider or the MAAC and certainly far more qualified then either of you.

You two just come on here and post BS one trumping up Rider and one tearing Rider down neither of you post anything worth reading.

That's not the point, I don't trash your opinions.

As for not reading posts by certain individuals, ask SaintlySaint when was the last time I responded to one of his posts. I blackballed him maybe 4-5 years ago.

Beagle, what are you thinking? Maybe he (I think its a he, although the sweeping conlusions of its analysis puts that in question) should switch to Iona?? What do you think?
