Their fans might think this is the worst time for the White Sox, losers of seven of their last 10 games, to be taking on the American League Central-leading Detroit Tigers.

But Paul Konerko looks at it another way.

"We're ready to start playing good baseball,'' Konerko said Sunday after the Sox absorbed a 10-2 thumping by the Texas Rangers to lose their seventh series of the season, compared with nine series wins. "It can't hurt. We haven't played well for about two weeks, so no matter who we'd be playing, hopefully we've hit the wall.

"Maybe it's good it's Detroit [arriving Tuesday] so we'll come out and play harder -- but I don't think it really matters that it's Detroit.''
